This hotel oozes class and quality. Everything about it was a delight. Four of us stayed in the hotel itself, two other colleagues stayed in an annexe and we all loved our rooms. It's

beautifully done up and if the food in the evenings is as nice as breakfast, I'm definitely coming back. Fantastic local produce wonderfully served. Friendly staff and a good wine list. How this place got two "poor" reviews here beats me - dear God, some people simply shouldn't ever leave home. I'd give it 7 stars if I could because it's the best hotel in the UK I've stayed in for a long time.

Highly recommended for a romantic weekend away.

We stayed here for a two night (Sat & Sun) break and since there was a deal to be had if you ate at their restaurant we did exactly that - check their website for their deals. The food was very good but fell short of outstanding. It was a little pretentious if truth were told, but as I say still very good. The suite we had (we were upgraded for very little extra cost - all the standard room were fully booked) was the Ballingham Suite (No.17 in the main house). The suite was excellent and very spacious, including the bathroom where we had both a bath and walk-in shower. The French doors from the suite leading onto the garden were an unexected bonus as the private garden is a great place to relax and have a drink. The garden is overlooking the duck pond so gives that feeling of being out in the countryside. The hotel is probably situated in both one of the best and quietest spots in Hereford as the Cathedral is literally two minutes walk as is the park over from the duck pond. The park leads onto a lovely riverside walk via a pedestrian bridge.
Highly recommended for a peaceful stay in a high quality suite. The reception staff were very good too!

Room Tip: Ballingham Suite No.17 in the main house is great, and it leads onto the lovely pond side garden.

A lovely place to be, but strange. A bit like an old country house, not what I expected really. The food as ok. I ended up having a steak as there was nothing else that appealed to me. It was nice, but again I expected more for the calibre of the place.

What a great experience, I found the hotel by internet search as we were planning a few days in ther Hereford area. so never not quite sure if the right choice has been made until you arrive there. No need for concern - warm welcome at Reception and assistance with bags, very pleasant room with complimentary fruit, bottled water and fresh milk in the fridge for tea/coffee.
Went to the bar for a snack and pleasant service continued.
On each of our nights there we chose to eat in the hotel restaurant having spent the day roamiing around and we enjoyed excellent meals with continued good service. Our only slightly negative comment was that the restaurant menu was a little restricted in terms of variety although the food was of excellent quality and well presented. On reeflection we should have eaten in the bar / brasserie on one night for added variety.
On the whole a very pleasant experience.

Room Tip: We chose a Junior Suite which hjad a little extra speace with writing desk etc.

We stayed here for a night while giving a talk in Hereford, as it was pretty much the only hotel with near-flawless reviews. It certainly deserves them - the reception, entrance hall, bar, restaurant for breakfast, and (very attractive) stairway were all spotless and well maintained. Receptionist was lovely and couldn't have been more helpful. Our room had lots of nice attention to detail - full ice-bucket, fresh milk in the fridge, a decanter of sherry ready in arrival free of charge, ground coffee, fresh fruit. Drapery etc was pristine, and the room was quiet even though it was in the main building on the front. The bed was massive, and needed all six big plumpfy pillows. If I were to mention that the red/blue bit on our bathroom tap had come off, so we had to run it to find out which way was hot/cold, it would only be to point out that this was the only minor detail that stood out as less than perfect. We've paid as much in very average hotels, and the price for this room was good value for what we got.

I´ve stayed at the Castle House and has a very good surprise
i was given a room outside the main castle on a building 50m from main hotel, room is small but very cozy with all on offer, coffee/tea set, fruit ( the only down side is that I was on 2nd floor and there is no lift :( but overhaul nice decorated room finished with very good standards.
its approximately 10 minutes walking into city town and 15 minutes to train station
breakfast room is another good experience turned to their gardens with a river passing by, very relaxing and romantic.
would definitely recommend this hotel but romantic reasons and relaxing/business purposes.

A very nice setting in a very quaint well kept market town ,within walking distance of most amenities that Hereford city has to offer.the hotel it's self is set in idillic surroundings and in superb and very quintessential English style garden lovely for the afternoon tea .
We have stayed in this hotel several times and without any doubt The best kept secret in this hotel is room 7 .
Staff are all excellent always extremely friendly and polite nothing is too much trouble .
Would recommend to any one a must stay :)
