We stopped here for one night to break up a long South/North journey. This is an excellent hotel and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in Hereford.

We had the Charles II Suite, a very large room on the second floor of the main hotel building. It was made up of a very large lounge area, big bedroom and big bathroom. All spotless, superbly furnished and equipped and incredibly comfortable. Lovely views down toward the Cathedral and towards the river. We had an excellent night of sleep and the bed was very, very comfortable.

The hotel itself isn't big. Is an old, Georgian (?) building and has been decorated in a nice mix of modern and older styles that really blend together. The staff were first class, really welcoming, professional and friendly.

We had dinner in the restaurant. An excellent meal (starters of "Pork" and scallops both full of flavour and presented superbly - main courses of rib eye steak and beef fillet, both excellent and then a panna cotta (my wife thought this the star of the show) and cheese board - a good choice), up there with some of the best we have had we agreed. Great service and a lovely evening.

Hereford itself was a real surprise. We must have been through in many times but never stopped. We always thought it looked a bit boring, bit dull and down at heel. Well, we were very wrong. You don't get to see the heart of the city if you pass through in the car. You miss an excellent shopping area with a great mix of buildings, pubs and shops, a wonderful river and park and a beautiful cathedral. You also miss a town full of friendly, welcoming people. Brilliant place.

We just returned from a truly lovely experience at the Castle House Hotel. I have stayed there twice before and this time went with my partner for a romantic get away. We stayed in the Balingham Suite (Garden Suite) which was like having a small apartment just off the garden. It is actually in the adjoining house to the main hotel but you can access the main hotel internally without having to go out into the street.

We stayed two nights and ate dinner in the hotel restaurant on the Sunday night.......... WOW Claire the head chef is superlative......... such creative, beautifully blended flavours. As a starter we had the Seared Scallops - this dish looked like a piece of artwork and tasted amazing. For main course we tried the the sea raised trout which was exquisite and for desert a heady combination of chocolate brownie, pear, panna cotta and toffee............ for wine we went for the local Broadfield court white wine. - it was so good we went to the vineyard and bought a case while we were away this time !

The staff at the Castle House hotel couldn't have been more attentive, pleasant and efficient. I can't wait to return.

Room Tip: The rooms here are fantastic. I love the Balingham suite as it is totally quiet, Huge bathroom wit...

It's unusual to find an old style 'county town' hotel offering good service, excellent food and comfortable rooms with elegance and modern amenities but this does it in spades. My first 5 stars for quite a while but really enjoyed and must congratulate the team there on a job enormously well done.

Stayed for one night over the weekend while visiting my husbands mother .
A very good hotel near the cathedral and an easy walk into town . We had a suite which was large plenty of room to relax and nice touches including fresh flowers , decanter of port . Bottled water and good quality toiletries in the bathroom . The evening before our stay they e mailed to ask if we needed a table for the evening reserving which we did . The restaurant is small and intimate lovely.
The food is excellent and nicely presented the fillet of Herefordshire beef was truly delicious .
We also had Sunday lunch there which was just as good we had roast beef which they carve at the table . All the staff we encountered were very curtious and had a smile . This was our first stay at the hotel and will stay again on our visit to Hereford .

Met our Daughter, Son in Law and Grandaughter here for Sunday lunch on our way to North Wales. Liked the hotel so much we decided to stay 1 night. What a lovely Hotel, very friendly helpful staff: very good food and service. The Hotel is in a very central location close to the Cathedral and shops. The suite we stayed in was spacious and included bath robes, slippers, decanter of sherry, fruit, biscuits and tea coffee making facilities. Very comfortable large bed.We opted for the special deal they operated on Sunday nights which is in place if you opt to dine in the fine dining restuarant. We did enjoy the food, well cooked and well presented.

Room Tip: Suite 2 first floor was very quiet and had separate seating/tv area.

We booked one night here on our way to a wedding in Ludlow but loved it so much we rearranged our trip so we could stay again on the way back. Our flight was delayed and we had dinner booked on the first night (we live in France) so my husband called ahead as the dining room stopped serving at 9.30 to apologise as we were going to be too late for supper. We kept in touch by phone and decided to walk out for a curry or something once we did arrive as we hadn't eaten all day. Ben the manager came out to meet us as we parked the car and told us the Chef and kitchen had stayed open for us and we were welcome to order supper. We duly did just that and it was delicious, we weren't rushed and had a lovely evening. Our room was a junior suite just down the street in a beautiful buiding overlooked the gardens. It was immaculate, wonderfully comfy with the biggest chandelier we've ever seen. It was a shame we were so late so really didn;t have much time there but we made up for that when we returned a few nights later. Another beautiful room, this time in the main house overlooking the river, good bathrooms and a small sitting room and walk in wardrobe. The rooms are not huge but they have been very well designed and everything has been thought of, nice quality toiletries in the bathroom, wifi, tea and coffee and even a caffetierre. Good very comfy beds, we can't wait to find a reason to return.
All of the staff were exceptional, they all gave an air of contentment and pride in their work and the Hotel, a very rare thing.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are lovely, we stayed in the seperate building down the street, a short walk away f...

We wanted just an overnight stay in Hereford before heading north but found ourselves wishing we could stay longer in this small gem. The hotel is in a quiet corner of the city and just a short walk from the cathedral, so it could not be better placed. On arrival we were upgraded to a junior suite, which was delightful. The rooms were beautifully decorated and very well equipped. The little touches made all the difference - fresh milk in the fridge for tea & coffee, ice in the ice-bucket, fresh fruit in the bowl, a small decanter of sherry!
Despite the hotel being busy the room was very quiet and we had an undisturbed night's sleep. The breakfast was very good, taken in the restaurant overlooking very pleasant gardens. All the staff we encountered were charming and helpful. This is a hotel which is trying hard to please!

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are exceptionally quiet.
