I must have visited Hereford Heralded at least half a dozen times if not more but every time I go I notice something new. The architecture is very bright ad the cathedral well lit with a peaceful atmosphere. The Mappa Mundi and chained library are also fascinating. The grounds are quite extensive and lovely to lounge about in in the hot weather with quiet little gardens with benches at the rear. There;s also a coffee shop, cafe, & gift shop. Events are often held here also and I recently saw Hereford's Sixth Form production of Romeo & Juliet which was fantastic.

What a grand building despite the scaffolding partly obscuring ouside and it is free! Well signposted and easy to find and near all the shops. You can climb 218 steps for the view (i declined the offer!) The shop is really good, lots of interesting things. Took a brill photo in the grounds of the composer Elgar leaning against a bicycle looking at the cathedral.

Stopping in Hereford for a few days last weekend we went into the city and just had to visit the Cathedral.
When we fist arrived we noticed that scaffolding was up and a working area for the stonemasons just outside the main entrance; still old buildings need restoring and once you got inside what a lovely place to visit.
There is also a little cafe that you can have a drink and something to eat, next to the shop, whilst you have a look around.
Well worth the visit along with the little lanes to the shops in the area.

Popped in to look around on a dark Saturday evening in December. The organist was warming up and filled the place with wonderful music.

This is a smaller cathedral but still very imposing, beautiful windows and interesting features and monuments. We came to late to see the Mappa Mundi but we stayed in the peace and quiet of the Cathedral for actually some time. There is no admission charge, just make a contribution as the upkeep of these places is ruinous. A lovely place to go when you are in this very friendly and welcoming city.
