Hereford Cathedral is a lovely old building with some very impressive stained glass windows. It has the added attraction of husing the Mappi Mundi and Chained Library. These together, make a good half day visit. There is also a small cafe there which sells snacks and light bites.

We enjoyed our visit to this cathedral very much. We saw plenty of interesting works of art and historical items there - stained glass, very colourful shrine of St Thomas, a moveable organ loft and some impressive old heating boilers! We took part in a free guided tour around the building, which was very informative. Lunch in the cathedral cafe was very tasty. The cathedral is well worth a visit.

The stained glass windows are absolutely beautiful as is the ceiling. The `hanging stainless steel crown` on almost invisible wires is, whilst being a talking point and certainly `different`, is something that is a bit unnecessary. However, that is just an opinion. The boilers however, are amazing. Pieces of late 19th century that are still functioning as well today as they were then.

An interesting Cathedral which hasn't succombed to the temptation to charge for entry (except for the Mappa Mundi exhibition). On a freezing day we were kept nicely warm, educated by the interesting information boards and even prayed for by the day chaplain. We could have joined a free tour too. Didn't get chance to try the home made cakes in the cafe but they looked good.
