Thanks, we're pleased you enjoyed your visit
We stayed in the Osbourne and Little room for just one night, just wish it could have been for longer. A taste of luxury but at a very reasonable price. The room is beautiful with everything you need. Bed is really comfy, towels, bedding lovely quality. We ate in the restaurant in the evening, the food was very good, breakfast was gorgeous and plenty of choice. Great setting, just a stroll into town and to the beautiful cathedral. Hope we will return one day. My only criticism is that although the staff are ultra efficient, they could do with being a bit friendlier.
Dear guest, thanks for the feedback, I'm delighted you enjoyed your stay in the Osborne and Little room. With its four-poster bed and original Georgian plaster panelling it is indeed a splendid setting, with a view out across the cathedral green. And it's great to see you enjoyed the food in the restaurant and at at breakfast. I'm sorry that you didn't find the staff to be particularly friendly - quite unusual to hear, considering the number of comments I receive complimenting the warm and friendly service. Perhaps you caught them on an off-day, apologies! Once again, thanks for your feedback, it's valued
We've eaten here a few times now and been in for drinks too. The food is good, large portions and good quality. The service is efficient and the staff are friendly. I do think that it is slightly over-priced, for drinks and food, but overall a lovely little pub-restaurant. Great location too, right by cathedral and Winchester bars.
Dear guest, thanks for your review, I'm pleased you enjoyed your visit to the Old Vine. Although we are priced slightly higher than many pubs we feel that a fair reflection of the attentive staff, efficient service, consistently good food, well-maintained surroundings and quality products that we serve. We hope you agree! Once again, thanks for your feedback, it's appreciated
This was a great little inn with a traditional English pub across from Winchester Cathedral. The location was perfect, within walking distance of everything. The accommodations were very nice and spacious. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. They offered buckets of ice nightly to this tired American traveler. We had arrived during a heat wave in July and even though there was no air conditioner, the staff did everything possible to ensure our comfort. The dinner we had at the inn upon our arrival was delicious with a very nice wine list and specials entrees that changed nightly. The English breakfast that was included with our stay was the best we had the whole trip! Especially loved the rashers with poached eggs and the delicious coffee with croissants and homemade jam! Simply delicious!
Great big shout out to Iona, Belinda and Paul (John Bates Jr.) for all the attentive service! We will return one day!
Best breakfast in the UK! Goodness, quite an accolade, Barbara the housekeeper will be very pleased, and rightly so, she does do a great job with the cooked breakfasts, which are all freshly prepared to order. I'm very pleased you enjoyed your visit, and that you found the room to your liking. Due to the heritage of the Grade II-listed building unfortunately it's not possible to install air conditioning, and during the heatwave this year it did get rather warm. However all rooms have fans to help keep the air moving and hopefully cool things down a bit. Once again thanks for your review, it's appreciated
Our family stayed in the new 2 bedroomed designer's annex, across the street from the main building. It was beautifully decorated, extremely comfy, and nice and clean. Mattresses too comfy - you don't want to get out of bed. Two tvs meant no fighting over the control with the kids. Small, very well equipped kitchen. Stylo bathroom. The supper we enjoyed at the main hotel was really yum. All in all - ab fab. Think will put our over-excited kids into the main hotel on our next visit, so that husband and I can enjoy this lovely space in peace and quiet! Thanks Marcelo and Ashton.... Also for all the extra help you gave with parcels and bags etc.
Our pleasure! Thanks for the review, we're delighted you enjoyed your stay in the Designers Guild Annexe. Newly completed this year we're really proud of this stylish townhouse-style apartment, perfect for a group of family or friends. Sleeping up to five with a kitchen, bathroom and living room it's moments away from the main building, where breakfast is served in the morning, and the perfect base from which to explore the city centre. We hope to welcome you back very soon
We stayed here for two nights last week.
From initial contact on making our booking to the point of final departure every aspect was completed to a very high standard.
It's a real pleasure to experience the level of professionalism and competence displayed at the Old Vine.
Everything was done promptly, with a smile and executed exactly as you wished. There are lots of small touches which indicate that the team has really thought hard about the small details and put them into action.
With regard to the food I won't go into details and I can only say that everything we ate was spot on and easy to see why they are so busy.
A great place to stay for exploring Winchester as so much is easily reached on foot.
Thank you! We're delighted you enjoyed your visit to the Old Vine, I'll pass on your comments to all concerned
