Dropped in yesterday for the first time for a pre theatre snack.

Decor is smart but has a high echo factor due to glass and steel finish.

Coffee was delicious and cheese and bacon sandwich very tasty but pricy.. Interesting menu. However they forgot about my wife's order of a slice of bread and when it did come there was no butter. They should serve so that everything arrives together.
Gents loo was poor. Broken mirror and paper tissues (yes tissues not towels) in overflowing bin.

They need to try harder

We went for a pre-dinner drink after recommendations and the hype.
There was no space to sit and drink really, just a few stools at the bar, the tables were generally 'held' for diners which I suppose is ok on a Saturday evening?

We asked for the cocktail menu and there were half a dozen on the menu and nothing particularly special but at £7.95 each I thought this was rather steep. Although I didn't directly ask, the waitress asked if I wanted a cocktail and I suggested there wasn't anything inspiring, she didn't offer to make something 'off menu' so I took it as they weren't up to it.
So we settled for a few glasses of wine, which were nice and we did get some complimentary olives.

I did struggle to know who was staff and who wasn't, if this is trying to be the polished place it wants to be then touches like the staff dressed in Black, White and Red would have been nice.

In my opinion, there is stiff competition very locally to this place and with being a bit further out of town it needs to up its game to survive.

I've had coffee and breakfast here twice, now, and on each case it's come close to being good, but not quite made it.

On the plus side, the decor is good, the menu offers something that you can't get elsewhere in WInchester (which is short of good cafes), and the quality of what you get is great.

On the downside, they need to work on the mechanics of getting people served, and getting coffee and food out.

It only takes one person to be um-ming and ah-ing over the menu at the till for ordering to grind to a halt. The staff obvisously gain prestige from getting to make the coffee. But the table staff are undervalued, and there aren't enough of them to get the coffee from the bar to tables, so it can arrive cold.

Food orders can take forever. Whoever put the breakfast menu together loves breakfast; but it's not a practical menu to deliver fast and hot (or, at least, the kitchen isn't up to delivering it fast and hot).

On my most recent visit, I had the smashed eggs with avocado and dressing. The poached eggs were fresh and beautifully cooked, but the avocado was cold (needed baking), there was only one, small slice of bread (needed to be toast), and the chimichango was under spiced and cold (chilling the whole assembly). And it took 45 minutes to arrive (even after chasing).

So lots of good points. But needs a someone with a good, business head to go through it and really make it work.

Popped in here for the first time last weekend - very busy and got a nice vibe to it. Great for couples, families or anyone really, a good mix of tables and places to sit and nice to see strangers sharing some of the larger tables without a fuss (very refreshing for us Brits to do that!)
Staff very attentive and keen to please...poor fella was rushing about all over the place but doing a sterling job! Will be trying out a breakfast soon i'm sure!
