At Old Winchester Hill we almost got blown away by a small hurricane at the very top. A massive storm came, meaning that we needed very VERY thick coats. Unfortunately, one of us forgot it. (note A: may result in minor hypothermia.) This happened in mid-winter so if you are not tornado prepared you can just go in summer despite still being slightly gusty. Overall, Primeval and primitive, but an adrenaline-filled crowd pleaser.(note B: we visited in 2010 December.)
