This museum is hidden away over the road from the garden at the back of the great hall at the top of Winchester. The staff are really friendly and the museum is very informative and well set out. There is so much to learn and I think it is fair to say that many people will not realise quite how much the Gurkhas have done, - this museum is really interesting and a real eye opener.
There were quite a few visual displays and diaramas to entertain our children of 8 and 4, but there is a lot to read, and probably better for adults and teenagers who have an interest in military history. We spent some time there, but if you read, listen and take in everything there is in this museum you'll spend a good few hours there.
The gift shop is understated and tasteful - none of the usual rubbish you get in most gift shops. There is also a good selection of books.
We ended up going to this museum by acciden, but glad we did - it needs to be more obviously advertised.
