Thanks for leaving us a review, Jonathon B! It's wonderful to hear you loved the Tropical House so much! Spanning two levels with fantastic vantage points, Tropical House allows guests to experience face-to-face encounters with a diversity of wildlife (including our wonderful sloth, Rica) and exotic plants in a tropical climate, while learning about the flow of energy through life.

Our Gift Shop is a treasure trove of wild and wonderful goodies and, best of all, the profits from sales made in our shop are returned to the charity. This means that in parting with your pennies you’re making a very welcome contribution to the care of our animals in the zoo and our conservation programmes around the world!

Thanks again for leaving your review; we hope you'll visit again soon.

Thank you for leaving your comments, GORDONGCHAPMAN. We're sorry that you felt our prices were high on your visit to Marwell. Our prices are reviewed regularly to ensure that we stay in line with similar attractions of this type, as well as offer good value to guests. As we are an action oriented conservation charity, all surplus goes straight towards the important conservation projects we support in the UK and overseas.

Our admissions team are expected to ask each guest at the time of buying their ticket, whether they would like to pay the extra 10% donation which goes to our conservation work. Including this small amount allows us to treat your whole ticket purchase as a donation and reclaim 25p tax for every pound spent. That makes a huge difference to the charity and is completely optional, although we apologise if this was not the impression you received.

We're glad to hear that your group enjoyed your visit to Marwell - our resident animals really are wonderful.

Thanks again for your comments. All guest feedback is very important to us as this enables us to consistently review our facilities and services and to improve our guest experience for the future. We hope that you'll visit us again soon.

We visited on a rather damp day in early Oct 2018 and I can understand why some people have commented on vacant enclosures, but a closer look at the indoor accomodation for those enclosures showed that the animals were (like us) simply staying indoors rather than being out in the wet).
We thought it very good and were impressed with how much space each enclosure provided (No cramped cages here). Good selection of animals of various types and sizes.
Zoo's are always expensive places to run, and hence expensive to visit but we thought it reasonable value for money and the catering was also reasonable.

Thanks for your review, markH8236GX. We're so glad that you enjoyed your visit to Marwell and it's great that you were able to see our animals that were sheltering from the rain. We have hundreds of animals to see at Marwell Zoo across 140 acres of parkland, and our animals have the freedom to choose where they are throughout the day so it may be that they choose to be inside, which would be why parts of their overall enclosure, such as their paddock, may appear empty.

We’re constantly evaluating all of our animal enclosures and feel that they are sufficient in order to provide the animals with opportunities to seek shade, shelter, privacy when they want it, and fulfil their welfare needs, and it's brilliant that you agree!

As we are an action oriented conservation charity, by visiting the Zoo you are supporting our lovely resident animals as well as contributing to our international work. We aim to offer good value to our guests and review our prices regularly to ensure we stay in line with other, similar attractions.

Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review, and we hope to see you at Marwell again in the future.

My 19 year old son and I visited to specifically see the Tropical house, we were not disappointed. Loved the sloth, marmosets, birds and butterflies.....fabulous addition. My favourite has always been the giraffes and that remains, beautiful. I can’t believe comments about empty enclosures when there is just so much to see. Fabulous and great value. We were also lucky enough to spot the young zebra. Keep up the great work Marwell!

Thanks so much for your 5 star review JuliaQ123! We're absolutely thrilled to hear that your visit was inspired by our new Tropical House, and that you enjoyed it. Our resident Linne's two-toed sloth, Rica is most definitely a favourite of Tropical House among our guests, and the recent addition of hundreds of postman butterflies really enhances the feeling of being in a tropical paradise!

We encourage guests to think of Marwell as a walking safari and advise guests to stroll around the park with a patient and watchful eye. With 140 acres of beautiful parkland to explore, and hundreds of animals to see, we suggest allowing 4-5 hours for your visit. We give our animals the choice to spend time both inside and outside within their enclosures and it is for this reason that a paddock, for example, may sometimes appear empty.

It's great that you were able to spot one of our new zebra foals! We currently have two new zebra foals at Marwell, one of which was recently named Tucana and is a Grevy's zebra. Our hoofstock team have a 'space theme' for all animals born on their section this year and Tucana is a star constellation. The other is a Hartmann's mountain zebra, and has yet to be named.

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave us a review; we hope to see you around the zoo again in the future.
