“A delightful lodge in a beautiful setting”

We stayed here to attend a family get together and it was the perfect venue again, We have been here several times over the last four years and we were so pleased to see that the lodge still seemed like new.
There are about twenty lodges all built into a woodland in the middle of the golf course so it is both peaceful and close to Winchester itself
Definitely highly recommended

“A great choice”
Reviewed October 15, 2014 for a stay in October 2014

We combined a golf weekend with a university open day and this accommodation worked well for us. The lodges are beautifully maintained with everything you need including a great little breakfast food box. My husband also said that the Winchester golf course was very enjoyable too. We managed to squeeze in a bit of sightseeing around the Alresford area, the uk's watercress centre and steam train railway. Plus some lovely local pubs. What more could you ask for!

“An idyllic "home-away-from-home" retreat.”
Reviewed July 1, 2014 for a stay in June 2014

After the long trip from California, we were absolutely delighted to arrive at this little enclave of well-appointed homes nestled amongst the rolling hills of the South Winchester Golf Club. Secluded from the links by tall stands of trees and shrubs, the only sounds were the calls of birds, and the rare clinks of drivers hitting balls as golfers headed back to the lodge from the eighteenth tee box.

Upon arrival, our merry band of five, (mom, dad, grandpa, and two children), settled-in quickly. There was a lovely assortment of local goods awaiting us in the refrigerator: rasher of bacon, sausage, farm fresh eggs, etc, and we were soon warmly welcomed by Yvonne, our wonderful hostess.

The beds were very comfortable, and the bathrooms were spacious and clean. The hot tub was very nice, and regularly maintained by a very nice fellow. The putting green in the middle of the houses was an extra bonus and utilized frequently. With Sainsbury's Superstore close by, shopping was easy, as were petrol refills and recycling drop-offs. After a quick supply run, we were soon making lovely meals, and enjoying them on the private deck.

The historical city of Winchester was enchanting and full of places to explore and shop. The farmers' market on High Street was a great place to acquire a wide variety of foods, as well as local arts and crafts. The little fluffy bunnies that were busily nibbling all around us each morning and evening inspired us to start reading Watership Down out loud every night. We then made took a wonderful trip to the real Watership Down, located just outside the town of Whitchurch. We also took trips to Stonehenge, Portsmouth, London (twice), the New Forest, and the Beaulieu Motor Museum.

If you are looking for the perfect bucolic Hampshire vacation, then the South Winchester Lodges should be near the top of your list.

“Great, spacious, clean, modern, lovely setting”

We are stayed here for 2 weeks over Christmas and it was lovely. We had flown from australia to spend Christmas with my husbands family, but their house is too small to put up the 4 of us so we hired this lodge. It was perfect for what we needed for my husband and our 2 children aged 2 and 6 . 3 bedrooms, open plan dining, kitchen and living area. Outside balcony (not used as it rained the whole 2 weeks). Everything was clean, modern and tidy. It had free wifi which was great. It was set with all other lodges, but luckily ours was a bit further away from the others, which was good. Some of them are quite close together, but saying that it is very quiet and we hardly saw other guests. There is a putting green in the middle which the kids enjoyed playing on when the rain stopped. A huge sainsburys is 5 min drive away which is great and convienent. The owners left nice little touches such as a christmas tree and xmas lights on the lodges. They also popped in a few times to see if we had any problems -we didn't. All in all, we will definately stay here again when we come back to England as it was very easy and gave us lots of space for the family. Pity about the weather! Thank you!
