We choose this hotel for is situation, near winchester on our way to the coast and not for the zoo ! Perfect : the room are spacious, clean, bed very confortable. We feel very far away in the middle of no where, because all the walls are windows so you can see the woods around you ! We also ate at the bar , and it's was ok, only the waiter was a bit confused (he forgot my husband order and he put more drink in our bill)
The swimming pool is nice, but not very clean around, and also in the changingroom, take your sandal with you !

The hotel was ok for a stay with Children, the pool was great but the bar food was extremely good. However, the bed was very uncomfortable, the room was dated and breakfast limited. Don't me wrong, it's a nice hotel and the price is reasonable and I'd stay there again with Children but not for business.

The bed are very comfortable. Receptionist very helpful and nice. Bar staff very serious waited a lot (35 min) for our lunch and we were only 2 clients in the bar and we ask for a caesar salad and a baguette plus 2 drinks it came up to 30£.Dinner is serve in elegant way so don't expect to eat a lot is more on the visual side, but very nice. The maitre very serious as well. Overall is a nice place but a bit expensive it might be because is august, i am not sure. Oh yes the breakfast is fantastic.

I've stayed at this hotel before for 5 nights and have to say the family room was in tip top condition however this time we were left disappointed, room 106 had a window hanging on one hinge! a dirty bathroom sink, no room service menu and the bunk beds had loose wood slats holding them together. That said the double bed was incredibly comfortable. The bar staff provided excellent service and food was good, we ate dinner in the bar and enjoyed a varied breakfast menu.. I think we were unfortunate with our room. We will however go back as it is a perfect venue to go to the Safari park.

My daughter’s wedding reception was held in the Oakwood Room in August and I can only give the highest praise to Kelly, her wedding co-ordinator, and the hotel in general for providing such a high standard of care, superb food and all round effort and support in making our day so special. The newly refurbished function room looked stunning with additional décor by Ballonique and DB Discos providing great entertainment for the evening – both recommended by the hotel. Visitors came from various parts of the country and loved the unusual theme of the hotel and we all enjoyed a stress free reception thanks to the hotel’s event staff. Special mention should be made of the delicious food which guests did make a point of commenting on. All round it was a great experience and more than matched other expensive wedding venues in the area. Well done and many thanks.

We stayed at the Marwell Hotel on 9th and 10th of August. It was a competition win for me, an added bonus! I cannot understand the few bad reviews on this site. The Superior room was spacious and modern, with accessories reflecting the African theme, and the beds were really comfortable. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful, from reception to bar staff, and restaurant service. The bar meals we had were well presented and tasty, and we didn't have to wait to long for them, even though it was quite busy. The evening meal was very nice, although a bit overpriced, and breakfast was one of the best I've ever had at a hotel. All in all a great weekend. I have one small suggestion regarding the small grassed seating area at the front of the hotel. There were no ashtrays on the tables, and although I can understand that they do not want guests to think that this is a designated smoking area, the grass was covered in cigarette ends. Also the addition of a small waste bin would hopefully stop rubbish being left to blow onto the floor. I would not hesitate to recommend The Marwell to friends, and would definitely return myself.

Room Tip: We had room 103 which was perfect.
