We booked Mr So for a Friday night and found it fulley booked on our arrivel. We were lefted stood at the entrance for two long being ignored. We finally had a table for two out the back area pasted the bar
We had one of the set meals for two for £22 a head and found the food very good, varied and plenty of it. Have no complinats about the food
Downsides are dont go there if your want a quite meal for two as we were put next to a table of ten. The service was not that freindly and the courses very slow coming out. We arrived at 8 and left at 10 30.
If they tried a bit harder on front of house they would score 5 out of 5 by people as the food was great and we would go back

We had decided to eat out in town that weekend, and had tried to book at a couple of places, which were completely full, so we ended up with a Chinese at the end of a really busy Jury Street in Winchester as our third option.

There were a few people eating when we arrived, and we were shown to our pristine table promptly and offered drinks and a menu. The menu selection was huge, and took a fair bit of ploughing through before we could make our choices.

The warm starter plates arrived promptly, but the food took ages and the plates were quite cold by the time starters arrived, which was a shame as it rather let the building anticipation go flat.

Main course was served much more promptly, and the accompanying wine was served very well chilled and was quite delightful.

We finished up with a spot of desert indulgance followed by a warm saki - mind blowing !

This is a very good Chinese restaurant. It may not look much from the outside but do not be put off. Food is great. Service whilst not overly friendly is certainly polite and efficient. If visiting on a Friday or Saturday night consider asking for a table in the back room of the restaurant so as to avoid the noise from the crowds that gather outside Green's wine bar next door. I don't understand why this restaurant is often so quiet, we'll certainly be visiting again soon.

My friend and I have had evening meals at Mr So when run by the previous owners now retired. We have visted twice since it was under new management the most recent was in June this year. Mrs So is small, but you get a warm welcome and the service is excellent. The food tastes good and is hot. We find the menu is varied for both taste and budget.

Lunch visit. Nice warm welcome and excellent service throughout. The lunch menu is varied and for around £7-8 for two courses (soup or similar and a 'plate' of rice plus meat, seafood or veg, noodles etc.) is pretty good value. I had a serviceable chicken and sweetcorn soup - not something I would normally choose - and char sui and crispy belly pork with egg rice. The rice was poor lacking lightness and flavour. The pork was good but drowned in a sticky, reduced soy sauce that was strangely appley. This is a good dish to test standards. I appreciate the limitations of a set lunch menu but serving good rice with well executed Cantonese barbecue/roast meats and soy as a condiment showcases the food. I would give this a 3 1/2 based on this visit if I could and would consider an evening visit although may well be tempted by alternatives locally.
