Having never visited this restaurant before and after receiving quite a few recommendations over the years, a group of us finally decided to pay a visit on a Monday evening. On arrival it was extremely busy and we were greeted by the owner, Ronnie, who was absolutely charming. The food and service we received was superb and the nice touch of not one, but two Indian amuse-bouches, was a very enjoyable addition to the meal. All the dishes we had, which included the most succulent king prawns, lamb shanks, sea bass, vegetables, rice and breads were cooked to absolute perfection and could not have been better. The food and service at Gandhi met our expectations for an outstanding dining experience. Perfect and very highly recommended - we’ll be back!!

Consistency is one of the most difficult qualities to achieve in a restaurant. We first ate at Ghandhi's in 1984 when we moved as young hopefuls to Winchester. 2 companies and nearly 3 decades later and still hopeful but not so young we ate at Ghandhi's on Monday this week. (we have been eating there intermittently for 28 years). The current Maitre d' is Ronnie who in 1984 was the chef, under the then and current owner Khalik.

The service reflects Ronnie's experience as a chef, and the food remains totally, and as ever, as good as it was 28 years ago. I believe Ronnie is now a part owner, he deserves it. If you want a first class Indian meal look no further. We even get the odd free after dinner whiskey, but don't tell him I told you!

And a word about the food, my favourite is 'King Prawn Bhuna' and don't fail to try the 'Garlic Naans'. And the 'Tarka Dhal' is perfect. Meat dishes excellent too, I could go on. Enough said you get the drift!

visited on a monday evening and few tables left at 7.30 ( although it is quite small inside ). Nice atmosphere, very cosy alcove tables with long drop tablecloths mean you can have a sneaky fiddle with your other half under the tables and no one will notice. The food was scrumptious, only ( minor gripe ) is the rice portions were a bit on the small side.

We had a nice enough meal. The service was efficient although we had barely finished the starters and the mains turned up. It's not cheap and it's the 1st time that I've purchased popadums and then also been charged for the chutney tray. The starters far outweighed the mains in taste and substance.

We had a weekend lunch at Gandhi, we were the only customers, and I can't say we felt very welcome. We didn't get much of a greeting when we arrived. During the whole of our time in the restaurant, a staff member was moving tables and climbing on chairs to fiddle about with the lighting. We made our selections from the menu, but I was then told they could not make my choice, or anything else on that page of the menu - no reason was given. The food was good and we enjoyed it, but based on the whole experience I don't think we will be returning any time soon.
