“Great place to stop before a cruise”
Reviewed October 2, 2013

Stayed here prior to going on a cruise. Fantastic breakfast and service. Only a short Taxi ride from the cruise terminal cost around £12. Nice views of the city too.I would stay here again next time I cruise.

This was my second choice Premier Innn in Southampton. It maintained the high standard of comfort and cleanliness and service one expects from Premier Inn but its location, although less than ten minutes walk from the city centre, is slightly dodgy. I wouldn't be overkeen to be walking to it after dark. However it was a good stay and good value for money. A problem with one of the courses at dinner was very quickly resolved to my complete satisfactiion.

The inn itself is like any other. It was clean, helpful staff ... Excellent bar and quite a reasonable restaurant. Good position for city centre ... Only 10 minutes walk. The only down side is it's position. Right next door to a drying out clinic. That apart the hotel itself was one of the more pleasant Inns ...

This Premier Inn was overall surprisingly comfortable and very nice. The receptionist was kind and helpful. Quick check-in. One lift out of order but this was not a problem as the room was on the 2nd floor. The receptionist advised that the room overlooked railway but was triple glazed, however if we were concerned they would try and swap. Did not hear any trains all night! The room was comfortable, very clean with everything you needed for one night. No toiletries but tea and coffee making facilities with complimentary milks, teabags, coffee, sugar etc.
The bath was large and big enough for two people ;-) and it had a nice shower over head. Plenty of pillows. Great TV though only watched it in the morning.
For the evening went for dinner in the restaurant which is on the 5th floor. Attentive waiters. Nice dinner and good choice of wine. The bar is the other side of the restaurant and is comfortable closing at 11pm.
Breakfast in the morning was hot buffet and plenty of everything even at 10.30 in the morning.

The only issue with this hotel is the parking. It is not free and even prepayment does not guarantee a space. The payment is for 24 hours, however if you move the car and return you have to pay again. Advise park by late afternoon to be guaranteed a space. The Premier Inn is within walking distance of shops, restaurants, bars so the car is not generally needed.
Overall a nice hotel for a mini break.

Definitely one of the better PIs, spacious room, quiet comfy and all boxes ticked overnight and nice to have the restaurant in the building, which was pleasant with a good breakfast. Helpful staff, no problems except for the limited and cramped parking. Managed to squeeze in on a kerb but would otherwise have been stuck. I see someone mentions cheap parking nearby, so perhaps that should be better advertised as it was a bit stressful going out and worrying whether there would be any room when I got back later in the evening. Can't say I saw any, but it was wet and dark. Other than that, excellent.

We stayed here for just one night. Premier Inns are designed for one night stays and this hotel did not disappoint us at all. As others have said before, parking is very limited and cannot be reserved. We were lucky and one was available for us on arrival so once in that car was not moving again. Reception is a little clinical and not very welcoming, but functional. The room was perfectly good and a good nights sleep was had. Breakfast was included in the room price and was acceptable.
This is not our Southampton hotel of choice, but price became the deciding factor, and for the price paid this was a good stay.
