“A great little restaurant with excellent personal service”
Reviewed October 4, 2013

A small and quite intimate restaurant with a good choice on the menu and great personal service from the owner. They are trying very hard to grow their business and deserve to do well.

“great little place!”
Reviewed September 29, 2013

This is a nice little restaurant in bitterne triangle and certainly makes a change from the more traditional indian or chinese restaurants that are rolled out across every street corner of southampton.
The food is very tasty, a reasonable price and you can bring your own drinks which is a useful addition, especially with tesco and co-op just across the road if you need more. Expect to pay around £5-7 for a dish, with 3 dishes per person about right for a main meal. This place is very tiny so its worth booking and the service is very attentive. Only downside is they dont take credit cards so you will need to come armed with cash!
I would definately eat here again and recommend to others

“Lost in translation”
Reviewed September 27, 2013

The Summit is a cafe certainly not a restaurant, the tapas are not tapas etymologically speaking!!
The food is ok, slightly over powered by hot chilli flavour and taste but no real flavour, the Thai curry was ok, the Thai fishcakes were more potato than fish but this is not enough to review this eatery as "A gem" "exceptional" "excellent" or "the best". The couple is lovely and the service attentive, but this is all and does not worth driving through town to eat there after reading the reviews we were expecting more so very disappointed being of Spanish origin!!!

Thank you for your review I was extremely surprised by your comments and sorry that you did not feel the same as other guests. Firstly we are not a Spanish Tapas restaurant but we are an International Tapas restaurant" tapas meaning small sharing portions only." My chef is from Chile and the other chef has traveled in Asia. We prepare all our 20 dishes from scratch. We hardly use Chilli and every dish does have flavor and at the pass are dressed also with fresh herbs before they reach the table.I would have change your dish if it was not to your liking, as stated on the menu. We offer fresh food from around the world in small portions. I respect your review and also the review of others.I would be happy for you to visit us again soon and please try some more dishes on us. The manager Caroline

“Simply the Best”

Noticed this restaurant opening in my area and gave it a try. Never expected I'd stumble across the friendliest, tastiest most reasonable price restaurant ever. And in my local area? I had to go back again just in case it was a fluke. Nope! this place is consistently excellent. Service, Atmosphere, Value AND good food.

“A gem”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

If you like the typical pretentious chain restaurants that fill the UK's high streets with their plush decor but crap food, this isn't the place for you. But if you like excellent food, prepared with imagination and flair and brought to you as freshly cooked as food carried a mere ten foot from the (fully on view) chef to your table can be, then The Summit is for you. Everything was very good and made from scratch, even the little dish of fragrant aioli that accompanied the outstanding calamari - the latter being meltingly soft and tasty and mile away from the usual rubber rings provided by the chains mentioned above. Service is friendly and very welcoming, prices are very low for the quality of the dishes. At the moment, the place has the feel of a pop up restaurant with basic decor but this is the least important aspect of the restaurant and, anyway, some re-fitting is about to start. Try The Summit, tell your friends about it and help make it into the premier eating place it deserves to be - God knows Southampton badly needs every one it can get.
