From the moment we drove up to gates, the warm welcome was felt. Rachel ran out with a smile and opened the gates for us. Every one was charming and Paul the land rover driver came out to greet us and to carry our bags . The whole hotel was lovely, the rooms were beautiful and a lovely 'Happy Anniversary greeting card was waiting for us '. We took the option to be driven by Paul to the sister hotel in the new forest for our evening meal and what a nice man he is .I have seen a previous review and i think that person should have booked else where . The Pig in the wall clearly states 'Land rover' and a Land Rover it was !

The evening meal and people were 10/10 .

What more can I say, it was just perfect, may be Paul to give you 10/10 next time can you stop the rain !

I had previously booked several of our sales team for the same Bed,dinner and breakfast and had very good reports and I thought 'I may as well try it my self '

I think Imay reward my self again for good performance and go back to the pig in the Wall

Stayed here one night on Sunday and we arrived earlier than the stated check in but we were shown to our room straight away and we were upgraded to one of their comfy rooms (we had booked the snug room).
Our room was number 11 on the 2nd floor and it was just lovely. A good size bedroom, great shower room with the most amazing floor. The shower was huge and there were lots of fluffy towels, robes and decent wardrobe space with safe. Good toiletries and a well stocked mini bar/larder. The bed was one of the most comfortable we have ever slept in.

We ate in their restaurant for lunch which was excellent, but we had arrangements for dinner so did not take them up on their offer to eat in their sister hotel in Brockenhurst where they provide transport to and from. The location is ideal, close to the city but quiet and plenty of gated, secure parking.

We were recommended to stay here by a friend and we are so glad we did, we loved the decor and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The only thing I would say is charging £10.00 to park your car is a bit steep considering the cost of the rooms but that would not put us off staying again and we most definitely will.

Took my partner here for a birthday treat and we were amazed. Wonderful rooms with the most comfortable beds and the monsoon showers were incredible. The staff have outstanding customer service skills and had I had one of the best bloody Mary's ever! My only regret was that we did not have longer there but will definitely return. Thank you for a wonderful time

A lovely cosy room in the romantic attic. Wonderful power shower, bedding is warm and comfortable. Parking was convenient although £10 is a lot of money for 24hrs when you have already paid £135 for 1 night. The welcome and the greeting was 1st class!

So we were just about to sail in the fastnet race, a smelly wet boat full of crew. We were flying in from Abu Dhabi and were very excited, but also slightly disorganised. Picked up our car from Hertz (great job but another story) and then sprinted down to Southampton. I have stayed in Soton a few time before, none that I would recommend, most that I would advise not to got near, but this time we went to the Pig. What a great place, just right and a refreshing change from the rest of Southampton. Well done, Soton, this is not, if anything the reverse of it.

My wife and I stayed here prior to a cruise from Southampton. As we pulled up it was obvious this was a popular venue as the tables outside we're full of people enjoying the afternoon sunshine with some good food and drink.
The service was excellent both from check in, waitering and the complimentary/ courtesy lift to the sister Hotel/restaurant in the New forest that evening.
The rooms are well decorated and comfortable. If you do have heavy suitcases it may be a struggle up/down the stairs, but saying that, the staff did put these in our room as we enjoyed the sun and some snack food and cider. I am sure they would have put our suitcases downstairs if I'd have asked.
If you want something quieter with more attentive staff, then I would highly recommend staying here. Overall, it was a fantastic start to an amazing holiday. Do take advantage of getting in the landrover to the sister hotel in the new forest; the food and atmosphere are great. I look forward to my next trip to Southampton and stay at the pig in the wall.

Its not fair - whatever Robin Hutson creates its always something to be marvelled at,and this beautiful little hostelry is no exception..Robin is the Hugh Heffner in the hospitality world (but of course better behaved !)
We only stayed one night and everything was superb. Our taxi arrived onto the cobbled paving right outside the front door and as if we were staying at Claridges/ Savoy in London out came David to help us out of the car,wow where did you find David he is a natural, dont let him go whatever you do.
We were taken to our lovely bedroom,5 star in every way,not just a mini bar, more a small larder, not just one hand basin but 2,every single thing was faultless and quality personified throughout..
We had a lovely light supper served effortlessly by Rachel and Jonathon washed down with some fab wines..The most comfy of beds with linens that appeared hand washed, as you can tell we loved it.
Our hero David was back on for breakfast and explained that its a help yourself style with an array of fantastic breakfast foods... The meals on offer are light in style, but after all it is 'just'a bed and breakfast!
Well done to Robin and the team Pig in the Wall is fantastic-eat your heart out Hugh H !! xx
