I took my two kids to visit and it does not seem to capture how great the Titanic was for its time or the real drama and horror of her going down with great loss of life, really not great. (And we visit lots of museums so a balanced view from me)

Signage in the City to this Museum is dire, there is not even a clear sign outside showing the entrance and I thought £20.00 for one adult and two young children expensive for what there was to look at, not much at all.

AND the idiots doing the guided tours thought they owned the place, physically blocking us from seeing exhibits and I had to ask some guys to move out of the way, we paid to get in and view and they just stood in the way rattling on like they owned the place, not good.

NO this was not a Titanic moment or visit and would not recommend at the prices they charge.

Try the Submarine Museum or even the Royal Marine Museum at Southsea, better value for money.

This is a MUST VISIT attraction! The obvious main piece is the story of the Titanic display and I really cannot recommend it enough. Kids and adults alike get a great deal from it. Of real note was the clever use of the old court rooms to recreate the public enquiry into the Titanic disaster - moving and informative.

If you are in the area, visit this attraction!!!!

I've wanted to visit the SeaCity Museum for some time. I wasn't disappointed! There's an excellent Titanic exhibition telling the story of the famous liner from the perspective of Southampton people. It's very sobering when you consider that most of the crew were from the city and many did not return from the ship's maiden voyage. The exhibition detailing the enquiry into the sinking of the Titanic is situated in one of the old court rooms and is suitably dimmed and atmospheric!

Another section describes Southampton's role as a major port and there is a fantastic model of Queen Mary, so if you can't afford to go to Long Beach, it's probably the next best thing. The final exhibition gives snippets about Southampton's long history dating back to ancient times and highlights a few people who had influence in the city.

It's an ideal place for both adults and children, though I would recommend going off peak as it does get busy with school parties. There are some really good interactive exhibits. We particularly liked being able to do a simulation of sailing the Titanic down Southampton Water, developing morse code skills and the Roman video presentation is a must! The gift shop is well stocked with souvenirs, Titanic memorabilia and books.

The old Maritime Museum near Town Quay was good - this is better! Very highly recommended!

This is a relatively new museum in the center of Southampton and most of it is dedicated to the history of Titanic and the people from Southampton who made up her crew.
It's all very tastefully done with lots of interesting facts about the ship but the main story is about the ordinary local folk who made up the majority of her crew and and the museum follows the events of six members, including Captain Smith, who lived in the Southampton area.
All the facilities are great, including a lovely little cafe, so well worth a visit.
You cannot park at the museum but there are multi storey car parks nearby and if you like shopping, West Quay and the city center shops are about 5-10 min. walk away.
