Beautifully restored theatre which has many excellent & varied shows to please all tastes. In the heart of the city so easily accessable by car, public transport or train (1 min walk away!)

We've been to the Mayflower Theatre many times to see live shows and its a great place to go. The largest theatre in Southampton, we always try and get seats in the stalls as the balconies are rather high for us, but all seats have a good view of the stage.
Light and sound effects are brilliant.
Half time drinks can be a bit of a rush as you order them before the show so finding them and drinking them is a bit of a challenge, if you prefer to stay in your seat they sell new forest ice creams from the aisles, (but get up quick as the queues start).
There is a restaurant that you can dine in before a show, however we have not tried this.
Like all entertainment venues it's a bit pricey buying drinks and sweets so we always take some with us :-)
Tickets are easy to purchase from the box office, where a map of the seats is clearly posted so you can choose where you want to sit.
They also have great disabled access, a row designated for wheelchair users, and also offer shows with sign language.
All in all a great place to see top shows.

The Mayflower attracts many West End shows with some " one nighters ". The seats are a good size and very comfortable. It caters very well for the disabled and carers.
I have been to many shows and you get a good view from almost anywhere in the theatre. The tickets may not be cheap but then it is independent and run by a charitable trust so any profit made is ploughed back into the Mayflower. If you add the travelling cost to going to a show in London then your tickets are actually quite reasonable.
I love the fact I can actually see a top rated show in Southampton.

Some of the seats are badly positioned and although I am tall, I very often find my viewing partially blocked.

The shows are splendid and the theatre restaurant is wonderful. Fabulous food and first class staff.
