“Very pleasant evening”
Reviewed March 17, 2013 via mobile

Had a very nice meal for 4 of us last night. Most tables had been pre-booked with just one table left which we took. Just shows you how popular.

Food was really good for all of us on all 3 courses.

Staff where really friendly and helpful - although I think there may have been a technical problem as the food ordering and bar tendering looked a little unco-ordinated but didn't really affect the visit.

The atmosphere was a little quiet and I think could have been improved by having the fires on, but the wooden floors etc give it the traditional pub / restaurant feel

“Average at best”
Reviewed February 20, 2013

Its not great, its not the worst, does not justify a special visit. Other better places near by that offer better food and value

“Excellent meal, service and value for money.”
Reviewed January 29, 2013 via mobile

Cracking Lamb Burger! As good as it could be. My mate had the hell fire burger and it was just a bit hot for him (but he is a tart!) The value for money is second to none. The staff and the service was faultless. I do however have a gripe! I am part of a team who spend 80 - 90 nights a year in Southampton and we usually have 10 or so who come out for a few beers and a meal. There are a few who don't like coleslaw and one in particular who is allergic to tomatoes. On a burger, the last thing chef puts on is tomato so any juice gets absorbed into the bread. If chef would use a little tolerence and aceed to the wishes of his paying customers, I am sure many more of our group would share our evening meal and spend our wages on quality food and enjoy the fabulous beers on offer. Please chef, be a man and give in -the ball is in your court.

“Great meal”

I have ate twice at this pub and both times have had a very nice meal.Although not a cheap meal, it is worth paying that bit extra for quality taste and service.

“Quality and generous portions with extra”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

Just got back from this pub. Food is posh pub and portions are generous. Bar staff friendly as we're the locals... Poshest up inside and no skimping on anything. Huge pudding shared. £33.00 for 2 meals 3 drinks and pudding... Quality food and quality service... I'm going back. It's a place to rave about like regginas of botley
