“Eat somewhere else”
Reviewed August 8, 2014

We stayed here in july for 1 night before travelling on Red Funnel to Isle of Wight so it was a perfect location. Having stayed in many premier inns was not disappointed with the rooms or service until.....
waiting 2 hours for 2 pizzas was not acceptable. Waiters and waitresses could not tell us the same story as to the delay and service was generally terrible.
I would stay here again but not eat here.

Stayed here as a family of 4 at the end of July 2014.

This is a newer hotel, and as such is in good condition throughout. Our bedroom was on the second floor at the rear, with car park views (but I didn't expect anything better in the middle of southampton).

On the subject of car parking, the hotel can validate your car parking ticket from west quay (directly behind the hotel) making it £5 for a 24 hour stay. However - if you arrive after 6pm and will be leaving fairly early - it will only cost you £1-2 in the open air car park opposite the front of the hotel. Also if you have a large vehicle or a roof box and won't fit in west quay (2m height limit) the open air car park is a good option.

The room itself was good, usual premier inn standard. No problems here.

Breakfast again, usual Premier Inn fare. It's good, though being in the middle of Southampton, there's lots of other options within a 5 minute radius.

Staff were friendly - checked in using the machines though, just for the novelty of it really.

Overall, a thoroughly recommended hotel, and if you're aiming to be in the middle of Southampton, the location is good too.

Excellent location, clean modern rooms. Food in restaurant was good. Breakfast staff could have been more attentive, hot food choice towards the end of service was lacking. Family room was spacious with a full size bed for child. Food location for red funnel ferry to Isle of Wight in walking distance should it be required.

This hotel never disappoints, have stayed a few times and never had a problem. Rooms clean and tidy, self check in nice and easy, good comfy beds and nice and quiet. What more could you want? staff happy to take bags after check out to look after while you shop. Will stay here again.

The strength of the Premier Inn brand is that you know what you are getting. Clean rooms that have everything you need, plus friendly and helpful staff. There are no frills but if you want those, you should pay more. Food was tasty and done competently. Car parking was in the adjoining multi storey and very close by, so not an inconvenience. My only grumbles were that even with a mattress topper, i felt the springs a little. Not enough to stop me sleeping but I was a bit surprised as Premier Inn beds are usually very comfy. The windows were not that well sound proofed so from about 6am, there was something noisy going on outside (presumably at the port) which meant i didn't sleep as well as I had expected. Still, overall, a good reliable place to stay.

My husband and I stayed here whilst we attended the New Forest Show. The hotel is about half an hour away from Lyndhurst.

The only annoying thing about this hotel is the car park - it's the multi-storey car park that shoppers use and you have to pay £5.00 per 24 hour stay. Also if you don't use the drop-off point you have quite a walk with your bags.

The check-in went OK, although our key cards weren't activated properly by the machine and we only found that out when we'd gone all the way to our room and couldn't get in! Not what we needed after our poor meal in the attached restaurant but it was fixed soon enough. The vending machine in reception wasn't working which was annoying, and also the drinks machine had no water.

The staff were OK but some seemed a bit bored to be there. Room was fine but somehow cleanliness was not up to usual standard of Premier Inn - the bedding didn't look 100% clean but we were too tired to make a fuss and were only there for one night.

WiFi should be free nowadays, Premier Inn - sort this out!

We enjoyed our stay, room clean and spacious. Not much of a view but hey ! What really lets it down is outside the hotel is an area which could be used for car parking but is laid to grass, no landscaping just grass.....what a waste of space and a missed opportunity. The pay car park us just next door but having to pay for 24 hr parking is annoying.

Very close to all the shops and right next door to IKEA so that is a plus and we would stay here again.

Room Tip: Front of hotel may have a better view of the port.
