“a good insight into Southampton's past”
Reviewed February 17, 2012

this has just re-opened after a long refurbishment. it used to be free to enter, but there is now a charge. however, it does give you a very good insight into the history of Southampton and you come away having learnt quite a lot

“Kids loved it!”
Reviewed February 4, 2012

Just a short walk from the ferry terminal and no far from the West Quay shopping centre, this museum is superbly set up to keep adults and kids alike interested and amused. Combining education and fun is difficult but it works here. Good audio guide and nice snack place. Definitely recommended - we loved it as did our 3 young kids. Family ticket for twelve pounds is a bargain. We spent an hour and half there but could have done with half an hour more. Horray for lottery funding!

“blast from the past!”
Reviewed January 22, 2012

I was amazed by the story of southampton after the tour in the house and garden. The staff were very accommodating and they make sure that you'll have a good time. The structure of the house is well preserved and renovated. The scenery in the garden is peaceful amidst that it is located in the city centre. I enjoyed eating my snack (carrot cake and raspberry juice) while staring at the garden. It can be a good bonding for families as they can reminisce the vast memories of Southampton. Kudos to the staff. It was worth the visit and will visit again soon.

“A wonderful surprise in the old part of Southampton”
Reviewed January 13, 2012

The Tudor House has not been reopen that long after a long restoration, but what a good job they did! There is a lot to keep small people entertained. As you come out of the introduction there a room where you can take a basket for young explorers, complete with binoculars, measuring tape and some quiz sheets. Your journey around the house and garden, although not a large area, can take 1-2 hours, because in each room you can explore back through time including Georgian, Stuart, Victorian and 20th Century, not just Tudor times.

There are brilliant 360degree interactive screens and my son was really interested in the historical graffiti.

Finally you end your trip with a visit to the cafe -which you can visit without going through the house.

This is an ideal place to get a bit of refreshment if you want to escape the normal humdrum cafes of a shopping precinct.

Great half days worth of entertainment.

Visited Tudor House before it closed for refurbishment and again when it reopened last summer. Very impressed at all the innovations, great for interaction with young children and adults.
