“Best Full English Breakfast we ever had!”
Reviewed December 1, 2008

We visited Southampton for a first time in bleak, miserable, cold winter weather but our room was very wam, comfortable, worth the money and the Breakfast sunday morning was absolutely wonderful! Well done.

The reviews we read for this hotel seemed pretty good so we booked in for 5 nights.I found the hotel to be pretty shabby and have stayed in better 2 star for less money. The bathroom was not clean. We were quoted 75 pounds per night yet VAT was added on. I went to use the phone on our last morning but found we were disconnected as out bill had already been finalised. We arrived on a sunday evening but no food was available. We would have moved out but the town was pretty full. Good breakfast though.

We stayed at the Hotel for 2 nights with my wife and 2 kids at the end of August, as my Children moaned about sharing a double bed in any other family room in a major chain!
My first experience was of a very helpful staff who let us store our 4 bikes in their empty conference room, rather than chain them outside.
The room (17) was spacious with a double and 2 single beds all very comfy and the decor of a certain age was fine. My only compaint is that the windows are the orginal sash windows so you could hear the cars occasionally outside, and that the hotel exterior is lit, which were by our window, so the room was not that dark until 12.00pm.
Overall we had a very comfortable stay, breakfast was excellent with a cooked breakfast and my children were very impressed by the addition of marmite and Chocolate spread, as well as the normal options
The reception was also very helpful on how to walk into Southampton (20 minutes away) and ideas to do.
Compare this was the Travelodge next door which is clearly a converted office block who also have a pay and display car park!
I would throughtly recommend the Elizbeth House Hotel, and has encouraged me to look away from the ever shrinking room size of the likes of Travelodge/Premier inn and Holiday Inn Express, who don't offer the serice or the quality breakfast offer!

  • Liked — large room and a double + 2 single beds
  • Disliked — slightly old fashioned decor

This is an excellent 2 star hotel, but could easily pass for a 3 star.
The rooms were clean, beds very comfortable - no roll together!
The food was very nice and plenty of it.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.

It is close to a main road but when the windows were shut it kept the noise down and traffic died down late evening anyway so we weren't disturbed.

If we are ever in the area again we will definately book this hotel again!

We just returned from a visit to Southampton, England. I found the Elizabeth House Hotel on Trip Advisor and was impressed with the reviews so booked this hotel based on those reviews. I was not disappointed. It was a great hotel, more like an Inn, with a homey, personal feel. The rooms were very clean, had all amenities, like hair dryer, and there was a nice garden area in the back. Breakfast was included and was great- everything you could want in a nice dining room atmosphere. I would highly recommend this hotel and thank Trip Advisor for giving me the information on this hotel. It `s also in a nice area of Southampton.

Have stayed at this hotel on several occasions and always been very satisfied both with the accommodation and breakfasts. Staff have always been friendly and helpful. The location is good both for the city and the ferry port, also for the Isle of Wight ferry. Even though the House is on a main road, as it is set slightly back from the actual road and there are trees and bushes, the traffic noise is hardly noticable. Love the place, prices are very reasonable and will use again.

had this hotel recommended by Southampton Tourist Information Centre.
cant fault location for cruise port 3km. cost us only £10 more than if we had parked direct with port car park.that included breakfast for the three of us and 2 weeks parking.taxi was £7.50 each way.
hotel was nice and clean.food was good.family room was spacious and clean. free wireless wifi. would defferently use again and recommend to everyone.
