“Another Great Stay”
Reviewed April 14, 2012

Decided to stay here again when we were in Southampton for a family funeral. Booked at fairly short notice which was effortless. The staff were as usual excellent and made our life seamless at which was a difficult time. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quiet as long as you can dodge the squeaky floor boards

I stayed here for one night with my partner and we were really surprised by the quality & service at this hotel for the price we paid (£65). The bedroom was quite small but had all the necessary items (tv, wifi, kettle, desk, hairdryer etc.) Bathroom was large and spacious with a bath and shower over Breakfast was delicious and we can't wait to stay again when we are in the area. Free parking is guaranteed too. Overall an excellent small hotel and would definitely recommend.

Room Tip: We were in room 8 which overlooked the car park but we didn't hear any noise from outside. We s...

I stayed here for a conference with my partner in March 2012 for a few nights. The room was excellent, spacious, clean and comfortable. There was a little traffic noise, but nothing to prevent a good nights sleep. I only had the breakfast once, and there was plenty of choice, and the cooked breakfast was tasty. The hotel is independent and in an older building, so don't expect everything to be from the same catalogue and every room identical, but it is welcoming and tasteful. Without exception the staff were friendly and efficient. I would recommend this hotel as good value and with good service. It was convenient for Southampton University, being a pleasant 5-10 minute walk away through parkland.

I arrived quite late and was happy to see the reception still open. I think they were waiting for me. They were fine and in general seemed quite helpful. The bus from the train station stops just opposite but it would take some time to walk there from the station (30 mins I would estimate)
The rooms were old guesthouse style and let down the overall good effort that the staff put in. First you had carry your bags up the stairs, (though some rooms are available on the ground floor) , then the room while a decent size and clean could have done with a major refit.
Lino in the bathroom was worn and the wallpaper there was also not great.Towels were a bit thin along with sheets being a little thread bare. The wifi was good in the room . Breakfast was traditional but good if you liked that. It was cooked to order and the staff were efficient.. I had nothing really to complain but nothing particularly memorable ro recommend it.
Across the road from here was a great restaurant, the dock of the bay that I had a delicious meal there with some mouth watering mussels.
For visits to the university this is one of the better located hotels taking about 25 mins to walk in and the U link buses stop just across the road.

This review is based on value for money. The brekkie was simply excellent. All staff were considerate and helpful . Excellent consideration also given to my disabled husband. we stayed in a family room that was well equipped. Plentiful car parking space. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to family and friends.

Room Tip: Family room on the ground floor room 32 was excellent

I've been to Southampton twice now and this time around decided to stay here as the Etap was fully booked.

Very good experience from start to finish. No faults whatsoever.

A lovely lady took my reservation on the phone a few days in advance with payment having to be made on departure which was great as i was going with quite a few mates!

The rooms are very cosy, well decorated and have no funny smells! Bathrooms are very clean and tidy.

The breakfast is a must and of top quality with really great first hand customer service with a very personal touch.

There is ample free parking and the hotel is a stone throw away from town.

I cannot fault this place and will becoming back instead of going to the Etap which feels like student digs!!

Keep up the super work :)

Room Tip: Annex is really decent!

i shared a room with a friend as we were looking for a good value hotel near the university and this is what we got. I liked : the location, easy to find and free parking. I liked the fact that we had free wi if and that our room was clean, large and faced onto the back and it was lovely and quiet. Cooked breakfast the next day was fantastic. The fabrics and look of our room was nowhere near as smart or as impressive as the pictures on the website and the bathroom although large and clean could do with an update, so this wasn't as good and maybe a bit disappointing. However overall it was a great value stay and the breakfast was fabulous and staff were friendly. I noticed that there was tired grey looking travel lodge next door but for a nice stay I would stay at the Elizabeth house and this is why it gets 4stars.

Room Tip: rooms at the back are quiet.
