Primrose Cottage Bed & Breakfast
Ranked #21 of 43 Southampton B&B and Inns
Reviewed June 10, 2011

I have been staying at Primrose Cottage for three weeks whilst working in Southampton and can honestly say it is the ebst B & B I have ever stayed in. It is comfortable, exceptionally clean, the breakfasts are wonderful and Janet is one of the nicest and most helpful people I have ever met. It is a delight to stay here and I would recommend it to anyone.

my wife and I have been staying with Janet for 5 years now, each visit has been really enjoyable. We have always been made to feel very much at home by Janet, the accommodation is beautifully decorated and furnished, with a very good en-suite bathroom. Tea and coffee is available in the lounge area and the breakfast is some thing to behold. We would thoroughly recommend Primrose Cottage and especially Janet who makes our visits very memorable. The house is set in a large beautiful garden backed by tall mature trees with various areas in which to sit in peace and quiet, perhaps to read a book or just enjoy the lawns and flowers.

We were told about this spot by our niece who lives in Amsterdam so we booked it, and actually met her there when we arrived in Southampton from Nova Scotia, Canada. We stayed in the annex, which was very comfortable at the end of a beautiful garden behind the house. There was plenty of parking available, outside place to enjoy the sunshine, and the little kitchenette was great. The bathroom was top quality and spotlessly clean accommodation. Jan served us a great English breakfast in her large country kitchen and gave us perfect directions to get to the New Forest nearby, which is worth a visit by all families with young children. We would definetly stay there again and certainly recommend it to anyone.

We have stayed at Primrose Cottage several times while visiting our daughter at Southampton University. It is located just beyond the edge of the city, surrounded by countryside and next to a country park, but easy and quick access to the city. The annexe where the rooms are situated is at the end of the garden with woodland beyond, so very quiet surroundings. Rooms are simple and pleasant, with twin beds I think in all. One has an en suite, two others share a bathroom. All the rooms, including the shared bathroom, open off a comfortable lounge with drinks facilities, TV etc.
Breakfast is served in the main kitchen of the house and the usual delicious english breakfast is offered. Jan is a friendly and helpful. Overall very good value.

Two years after our first visit, we returned to Primrose Cottage as we were going to the Twenty20 Final at the Rose Bowl. As with our previous visit Janet and Alfonso made us very welcome. We stayed for 2 nights in the annexe which has two twin rooms sharing a bathroom and a twin room with an ensuite, so it was like being in our own house, with a lounge, tv and tea/coffee facilities. Breakfast was fantastic and then Alfonso drove us to the cricket ground and collected us at the end of the long day. The charge for our accommodation is reasonable and very good value, and the nominal charge for transportation to the ground makes it the ideal place to use as a base. We plan to return when we next visit that part of the world..we would n't dream of staying anywhere else in the vicinity.

I stayed at Primrose Cottage, a family run place in Southampton, near a lovely country park. The rooms were warm, clean and comfy, and the smart bathrooms of a hotel standard. Everywhere was spotlessly clean, and nothing was too much trouble for the family that run the B&B. We actually stayed in an annex at the bottom of their beautiful garden, so we had a real feeling of privacy that we don't normally feel in B&B's. We stayed for three days and they were really welcoming and hospitable throughout. Breakfast was delicious, and all sourced from nearby farms apparently. Would totally recommend this place to everyone!
