Live music, good selection of specials, champagne Friday, cocktails, just a great place to be. We always get a very warm welcome.

“SHOCKING SERVICE!!!”
Reviewed April 1, 2013 via mobile

The service at this place has always been bad. The staff are not attentive, don't smile and sound as if they follow a script. I would strongly advise anyone not to bother as you would be wasting your time and money!!!

“Food and atmosphere good but definite room for improvement”
Reviewed March 30, 2013

We ate here last night which cost us over £100 (for 2 people) for 3 courses and a bottle of wine so far from inexpensive. We have dined here a few times before but not for some time and know the quality of the food is pretty good. When our starters came though we were amazed by the size of the mushroom in the mushroom starter (£6.95). I mentioned this to the waittress as it seemed obvious by the size (small) that there should have been two mushrooms on the plate, especially compared to a generous portion of prawn tempura which we also had. She said that you get one or two depending on the size of the mushroom, hardly consistent and very poor value for money. We both had steak - mine was fillet steak at £28 and the steak was tiny. The waitress said the chef said he was embarassed to serve this and offered me a free dessert. It was cooked well but was smaller than the mushroom on the plate, again not worth the £28 price tag which is the most expensive meal on the menu. If the chef is too embarassed to serve it, why is he and if they cannot get their portions sizes to a consistent standard then maybe they need to look at their suppliers. It was a shame because the food was actually cooked quite well and had plenty of flavour. Maybe I was just unlucky but won't be rushing to go back any time soon.

“Good restaurant.”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

Certainly one of the better places to eat in Southampton, in a great location (I can't speak for the wine bar though as I didn't experience it). My meal was superb, ditto the wine. The service was very good - not too rushed, not too slow. My only (minor) reservation is that it is slightly on the expensive side, and there are other restaurants on this street that offer better value for money. Despite this, it's worthy of consideration.
