Stayed in room 7 and hardly slept both nights as the room was either to hot or too noisy due to shouts and screams from the drunken crowds outside or the bottle collection first thing in the morning. Canadian breakfast was poor with fatty bacon and five tiny strawberries.

Stayed the same weekend as the last reviewer and couldn't agree more £140 for the room was over the top especially when we booked we were told £95 per night.

We booked early in the year and asked for a room at the back as when we stayed previously had been given room 6 and had not been able to sleep because the room was far too hot and noisy.

When we arrived they had mixed our booking up. despite us phoning a month after making the booking to say we had not received a confirmation email as requested and told the a room at the back had definitely been reserved for the dates required .

We were down for Saturday and Sunday instead of the Friday and Saturday we had booked and the room was unavailable Friday but we could have it Saturday and another room Friday. As we were going to be out until late At night and all day we said we would just stay in the one room as moving would be to much hassle only to be given room 6 again.

The room was clean, but there was the problem of heat and noise we decided to leave the window open when we were out to cool the room but the window would not stay open.

We did not even have dusty toiletries we had none at all not even a bar of soap.

As the last reviewer said great staff but well over priced, our friends stayed a few doors away and paid a lot less just wish we had listened to them when they tried to get us to change our booking.

We have emailed Faucett Inns to raise our concerns about booking at one price and being charged another when you check in especially boat show week when your left with no other option Looking forward to hearing what they have to say.

Room Tip: Unless your a night owl or can survive on no sleep at all. DO Not book a room at the front you won...

Found this place online, looked like a lovely little boutique hotel but on arrival we realised it was literally some rooms above a bar.
£140 was so expensive for 1 night, considering we barely slept due to the noise/boiling hot room.

We stayed on a Saturday night which was clearly a mistake, I would advise people to avoid on a Friday night too! The bass from the downstairs music was so loud til half past midnight, and like a recurring thump!

The room itself was boiling hot, we had the fan on and the window open. Had to close the window pretty quickly as the noise from outside was just as bad as the noise coming from downstairs, constant laughing and talking and music til 1am. It was extremely annoying and frustrating!! We didn't want to keep the TV volume up too high as we were conscious of disturbing the room opposite. We were high up in the hotel but can't imagine how bad/loud it would be for rooms 2 or 3 who are right next to the bar and toilets!

The bed was okay, although the mattress was paper thin and the duvet cover was not attached at the end/bottom, it was like a slip-on duvet cover?! The spot lights on the ceiling are strange, you can either have them on or off, so too bright as there are 4 or be in darkness with a lamp on.

The bathroom could have been cleaner, the toilet seat and toilet roll holder were both very loose, was scared to touch them! The complimentary conditioner and bath cream minis had dust on them and the shower was wet. For £140 it should be cleaned properly, (no complimentary shampoo mini although there was a conditioner and there was a shower, not a bath).

The breakfast in the morning was okay although a bit cold. Not sure it was cooked to order.

Overall it was an okay experience, couldn't fault any of the staff, they were very friendly and polite. But for £140 I expected so much more. Ive stayed in hotels for £60 a night which have been much better, we wouldnt have minded paying the £140 if the room justified the price tag, sadly we didnt think it did. The room and bathroom were a bit of a let down, I think you are paying the massive price tag for the location. It was clearly made worse by us staying on a Saturday night.

We would return for food and drinks, not for a stay in the rooms though.

We stayed at Cargo for the opening of the Southampton Boat Show. We were a little sceptical from the previous reviews, but we had a really nice stay. From arrival the staff were welcoming and friendly, the food was really tasty and fresh and the room had high quality finishes and an amazing shower! The only downside was the parking, but with the long stay car park around the corner it was fine.

We will defiantly be staying again.

Stayed for a long weekend in August in the loft room. The room was nice but a little tired in some areas. Breakfast was a big let down - I eat anything and am not at all fussy but on each of the 3 mornings the breakfast was terrible... Not even edible on the 1st day! The hotel is situated in an ideal location for bars and restaurants however I'd suggest you can get more for your money elsewhere.

Stayed in a lovely Superior Double room at Cargo last night and it was a really lovely experience! We parked nearby in College Street Long Stay Car Park which was very well priced (£1 from 17:30 to 12:30 the next day, although it was a Saturday/Sunday) but there is also plenty of street parking right outside the restaurant.
Firstly, it was my birthday and they arranged to have flowers and champagne sent up to my room which was a nice surprise! The staff were incredibly friendly and we were met with a smile, shown to our room, had an explanation of the late entrance system (very secure) and were pointed to the fire exits.
The room was a comfortable size with a nice mix of modern and vintage, and had a lovely modern bathroom.
Getting back to the room at about half 10 we were a little surprised at the amount of noise from the bar but I have to say after getting to our room we barely even noticed the noise, even with the window open and being on the first floor of rooms.
Unfortunately at this point we were hoping to have a nice warm shower but the shower was not working properly! We rang downstairs to the front desk and someone came up straight away, despite the time and busy bar downstairs, to see to our problem and even though it was not fixable on the night (it was nearing midnight) we were given a discount the next morning for our next stay with them!
The next morning we went downstairs for our complimentary breakfast and were met with more smiles, very pleasant service and a really nice full english, a lovely latte and a pot of green tea.

We have already booked our next stay at Cargo and we can't wait to try out the Loft Room!

Stayed at Cargo for one night, thankfully. Little did I know this was a hotel above a pub, and rooms are just that. No AC and room was stifling hot. Stayed in room 8 on the top floor thinking I wouldn't hear noise, how wrong could I be. Although I didn't hear noise from downstairs, opposite the hotel is something to do with Southampton University, which meant people outside smoking and chatting loudly upto around 4.30am, so a good nights sleep was out of the question.

However, if the noise wasn't there, the bed was like sleeping on hardboard, with no spring in mattress whatsoever.

In short, if you want a good nights sleep, avoid like the plague!!

Room Tip: Dont stay here, there aren't any!!
