It's so nice to find a non chain restaurant! Family owned and so pride in their food and service is evident.
Welcoming and cosy you feel you can go for a full meal - steaks are great or just enjoy a glass of wine and a few tapas - just like in Spain .

I've been in a large group, with my husband and recently with our son - all equally good.
It is what it says on the tin which is rare these days.

We read online reviews about the place and since we are a group from spain, greece, and malta we thought of getting some taste from home. We ordered tapas. We thought they were playing a joke on us. For vegetarian tapas we got a plate with slices of onions. Another with slices of tomatoes. Another with slices of peppers. Another with potatoes and so on. The non vegetarian tapas were more descent. Then we ordered a plate with some kind of lasagna. Horrible!!! We thought of laughing it out. Then we asked for the bill and they had conveniently forgotten to subtract the reservation cost we paid over the phone. We said we can prove it with our credit card statement if needed since they doubt us. Then we disagreed about how many people we reserved a table for and our phone reservation agreement. Nightmare. All in all the food was terrible and certainly not spanish. And although the service was almost ok, the overall treatment was disappointing and the value too expensive for what is offered.. Stay away. I will certainly do.

La Regatta is a well established restaurant with a fine selection of beers and wines; it is across the road from town quay which is next the river and near the ferry link to the Isle of Wight. The restaurant lay out is set out nicely giving that cosy feeling, the menu has a large choice to choose from plus if you are not too Hungry you can pick from the tapas menu. I have eaten there before and have tried a number of dishes, from calamari to steak and in the tapas menu meat balls and fish etc. The prices are not over the top for the area, and the food is freshly cooked so is worth waiting that little extra for each dish. Service has always been friendly a nice place to chill out after work or take the family to. If arriving by train there is a free bus to town quay, which is a handy extra if you do not know the area.

Dined here for a birthday night out with my wife.
We were greeted with a friendly smile & hello and shown to our table. This is where my only (minor) gripe comes in. Some tables seem a little too close together - not crammed in, but could have a little more space from the diners around you.
Apart from that it was a great experience. We order several tapas dishes + a special from the board and they arrived all together, well presented, hot and above all, delicious!
Will come back again for sure
