I have known and loved Tangs since the 1980's, in days gone by a baby grand piano stood in a corner with live music at weekends with fabulous food beautifully presented. Carved raw vegetables decorated dishes which were full of flavour and excellent service was the order of the day.
Sadly this is not the case now, as a solo diner I asked for a single portion of Lettuce wraps, but chef would not oblige, I asked for a half portion of the crispy duck (which is served as a 1/4 portion for two) but again chef would not oblige so I ordered a 1/4 and struggled to eat some of it and wasted the rest. I then ordered a pork dish with bamboo shoots and water chestnuts, this was grey in colour and tasteless. I ordered fresh vegertables, they were as tasty as the pork! I had to ask for the rice - the pork and veg were getting cold.
Service was very slow between courses, I had to ask for service and one of the staff kept coughing all the time - very off putting. Staff did not seem to fully understand English which made ordering difficult.
The Jasmine tea was fine and they did order me a taxi.
I am so disappointed - one of my favourite places which I will no longer visit.
