“Gorgeous Italian restaurant”
Reviewed December 29, 2011

This year was the first time I'd been to Soprano's but had always heard great things about it, and I was not disappointed.

The first thing I noticed was the immense amount of vegetarian options available on the menu which is always good to see as I have many vegetarian friends! I had a creamy chicken tagliatelle which was simply delicious.

The service was excellent too, even though it was completely full and the lunch time rush. I was also surprised at how reasonable the prices were considering the quality of the food.

Highly recommend this to anyone, especially those who prefer the independent restaurants over the chains.

“Never disappoints, always impresses!”
Reviewed December 10, 2011

Over the years, i have visited this great little restaurant about 8 times and there will be many more to come. In the last 6 months there have been quite a few new and tasty additions to the extensive, good value menu, and there is always something very enticing on the specials board. impressively, there are over 20 vegetarian dishes, and many more can be made on request, as everything is made fresh to order. we had the garlic pizza bread with cheese to start, which was completely perfect and so delicious, you must try it! We then had the special lamb rump dish which was a 9 out of ten for me, could just have done with a bit more veg and jus, but very nice all the same. i then had what was truly the best pudding i have ever eaten, which was creme brulee, flavoured with home made Christmas pudding. the creamy and smooth custard and crunchy caramel, went so well with the excellent Christmas pudding at the bottom, that I just had to have another one! Brilliant food and good service, will be back soon!

“An Excellent Meal Which Doesn't Break the Bank.”

An excellent and tasty meal. Good value for money. Well advised to book a table as the restaurant soon fills up - an indication of its popularity.

“Great value, ambience and food”
Reviewed October 28, 2011

We've been to Sopranos a number of times and revisited it for Saturday lunch. The atmosphere is stilll the same and very reminiscent of a continerntal bar, for some reason the glass brick bar does it for me. We arrived early without booking - later on, they were turning people away, such is their (deserved) popularity. We had the sharable fish dish which was great - they've made some changes to their presentation since we were last there, and all to the good, both the sardines and prawns were grilled with different herbs and were delicious, the mussels were also great. It was served with plenty of bread for mopping up the sauce. I do have one request to make of them, however, please open water bottles at the table.
A great lunch at a very reasonable price

“Great value, good quality Italian food”
Reviewed October 16, 2011

Great straightforward Italian restaurant in the centre of Southsea. Not that big and with simple decor. Really busy on a Saturday night and even with a reservation we had to wait for our table.

Plenty of atmosphere with a lot of noise but it works well.

Service was OK but you had the sense it could go wrong at any moment.

Food was excellent and sensibly priced. Top quality risotto and fresh sardines were the highlights. Risotto was priced at around £10.
