We stayed at a bed and breakfast (The Pier) and were literally 3 or 4 doors down from Shorty's.
We were not starving but wanted a few glasses of wine and perhaps a stew or soup before we walked home for our last nights stay in Portsmouth.
The restaurant had perhaps 4 tables filled, with some reserved placards on other tables. There is a standing room only bar. Very tight. Some tables are pretty hard to get to, and folks shift around as needed to get people in and out. No problem.
We asked before we sat if we could have a quick bite and an older Asian lady said sure and gave us a table. Our waitress came, we asked about the soup and she said "forest soup". We said ok, bowls of soup, bread and a carafe of wine. She wanted to know what our entree would be and we said that was it. Well, she wasn't happy about it and we got pretty much ignored the time we were there. Another girl brought our drinks and food, and the older lady took our money. We were kind of embarrassed by this. If they don't want us to have a light fare meal, they should have told us at the door. Uncomfortable experience.
