“High quality boutique hotel with very friendly people”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 22, 2013

Mary and Luis made us feel very welcome after a very long day traveling. The room is a quality I enjoy in high end hotels. Loved the bed, shower. Loved the restaurant. My husband "hates hotel restaurants". However, with no complaints, we enjoyed two dinners here. Portsmouth was a big surprise! So much to do and enjoy (this boutique hotel is part of that enjoyment). We will be back in about a year and there is more to do. Spent three nights and loved the historic dock area. Walked from this hotel, then took cabs. It's walkable, we were just running out of time. Really, Mary and Luis went out of their way to cater to us.

Thank you for your review we are glad you liked the hotel and Mary and Luis' service.

We are glad you had two brilliant meals with us. Just a note for other readers our hotel restaurant has been relocated a few minutes away now still offering the same food and service as you enjoyed.

We hope you will try one of our other hotels when in the area.

Best regards

We stayed in an executive double which was lovely and spacious. I usually find it difficult to sleep in hotels but felt really relaxed and had a restful night. Staff were attentive and friendly. Highly recommended.

More very satisfied customers. We received a lovely welcome, tea in a pot brought almost instantly and good advice on somewhere to eat. Breakfast was delicious and kept us going most of the day visiting the Historic Dockyard. We were at a gig at the Wedgewood Rooms which are just round the corner. Perfect place for a short break.
So different from a chain hotel at a very similar cost.

As soon as arrived we were offered a cuppa. The weather was grim but the welcome great, and we were into some gorgeous decor with a lovely room all ready for us early. The staff are all consistent in their training and pleasant approach to clients, it's a hallmark of this chain. The breakfasts were a delight. We stayed four nights, room servicing was excellent. All in all a wonderful stay, highly recommended, Good Parking, Excellent Bar, FREE WIFI!

Room Tip: A couple of rooms on the ground floor if you prefer. A great Bar.

I chose this hotel from reports that I found in Tripadvisor, they were all correct, we could not fault the hotel, the staff were helpful with finding a restaurant for us, the breakfast was very god lots of choice.
Ideal hotel to stop for a night after a ferry trip from France.

I was staying for one night when on business in the area. From the outside, the hotel looks a bit nondescript , however, as soon as the door opens, your spirits rise.
The old Victorian house has been very tastefully made over with black wooden floors. I was given a warm welcome from the reception staff even though I arrived after 8pm and my bags were taken to my room.
Although tea and coffee making facilities are not available in the room, when requested, tea and coffee arrive very quickly - lovely coffee in a small cafetiere.
I had the small double room that has been discussed elsewhere and I loved it. Beautifully decorated and very tastefully accessorised - with lamps, mirrors etc... A very feminine room, I think.
The wifi worked perfectly. The bathroom was small but perfect, very clean with excellent walk-in shower with very nice L'Occitane toiletries. The bed was very comfortable and the hotel is in a very quiet location.
Breakfast was served in a dedicated lower room, the cooked breakfast was great, service was very friendly and efficient.
This is one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in.

Room Tip: Room Three is perfect for women travelling alone.

Surperb boutique hotel, with friendly, helpful staff and lovely rooms. Had ordered a bottle of Champagne to be waiting in the room as we were celebrating my boyfriend's birthday and the hotel asked if I wanted a message to be left with it, which I thought would be written on a small card...however they had printed it onto an A4 piece of paper and laminated it, which made a lovely keepsake of our trip!

Would definitely stay here again...hopefully next time for more than one night though!
