“Nice walk but is losing its mojo”
Reviewed October 10, 2013 via mobile

Went here with my wife for the first time as married couple the place was a bit run down considering it was August. Need a lot of work to it to modernise the park.

Thank altafur

“Time to sit and stare”
Reviewed October 2, 2013

All ways a place of tranquil reflection of how Southsea seafront must of been in the hay days. As the model village is vandalised again and the pier slips slowly into the sea and the head of PCC plays his fiddle on Portsdown hill at least we have the Rose gardens and there "free"

“Seasonal, but very attractive and quiet”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

This is a lovely (free) place to have a stroll around, and/or have a few moments peace. It's usually relatively quiet which makes a refreshing change along the vibrant seafront, so it's a nice place to spend a few moments.

The walled garden feel to the place makes it feel like a small oasis of calm, and the view, through the gates, across to the seafront is lovely. The gardens are well tended and there is a wide variety of roses with small bits of information readily available for those who want to know a bit more about that they are looking at.

A lovely asset to the area

“Southsea Rose Garden”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

It's on my doorstep yet every year I leave it too long before I go there to view the most exquisite selection of roses. And when I get there I say 'Why didn't I come sooner?'
A walled garden with a plaque to commemorate the cockleshell heroes. Sheltered from the wind with plenty of seating, it is the ideal spot not to smell the coffee but smell the roses. A mass of brazen coloured petals meets the eye on entry.
Different people use it for different reasons. Having a picnic lunch in a quite corner. Computing for exams by students in a secluded spot. Or as I saw last year a young man get down on bended knee and propose to his young lady in the most romantic space. Surrounded by yellow and red rose petals.
