Visited the cinema today and although someone had warned me about the ticket prices, I found them to be very fair. I've worked in a cinema in the past and I dint know if it's the same for Vue, but we never made a profit off the tickets. Only the VIP seats we offered so £2 at most. That's why the food is always expensive in them. It's the same as going to the theatre, the cost of tickets pay 1000s of staffs wages as well as the people that actually made the film.
There was an issue with the people in front of me trying to see a 15 rated movie and one of the girls didn't have ID. The mum was kicking off saying that they couldn't dictate what her daughter could watch and asking for ID is ridiculous. People need to realise that it is the law, not the cinema being harsh. The BBFC put the ratings in place for a reason. It's exactly the same as buying cigarettes or alcohol for a child in a shop. The female member of staff (I believe her name was Nikki) handled the situation very well and explained this to the parents but they weren't having any of it. Good on her, nobody should take that kind of abuse for something which is the law.
Very good cinema which I will be visiting again next time I'm in the area - the only downside being that the the toilets kind of smelled which is expected of loos that 1000s of people use on a daily basis. They were clean but there was a pong.
