This fort is brilliant and FREE! Even the parking is FREE, but donations are welcomed and you'll see why.

You could spend hours here. There are interactive displays, tunnels to explore, all of the armouries to see.

There is a cafe, gift shop, good facilities in terms of toilets.

Worth a visit, be sure not to miss the column errected in homour of Nelson near the over-flow car park.

Once this site is developed and signage is improved this will be a top class attraction, its good now but it could be great.

My grandchildren were visiting & the weather changed to 'showery' so no beach trip today.
Fort Nelson had been recommended by several friends so this was the day.
Excellent. easy to find, free parking.free admission and a lovely cafe.
The extras like the guided tour was free for children & fascinating even 7yo grand-daughter & 9yo grandson loved it. My grandson even commented if I have children I can bring them here.
The craft sessions & commando course were extras but very reasonably priced & generous with supplies when needed. The commando course they can come & go all day so great for letting off steam.
I shall definitely visit again & take in all the wonderful displays etc at my leisure.

A surprisingly interesting attraction showing armaments through the ages. The inside exhibition halls have been well laid out and theres plenty of exhibits. On the outside, but still within the Fort itself has a display area with various displays depending on time of year.
There are good amenities with a substantial cafe/restaurant.
Not many attractions this good are free!
