“Great night”
Reviewed August 4, 2013 via mobile

I went to the Taste Of China with my Wife, Daughter and future Son in Law to celebrate my leaving the Royal Navy. It was as ever a first class night out with great food and fantastic service. Why there has been some bad press about this place is a mystery to me as we use it all the time and think it is great. You will not find a better Chinese in Portsmouth. Many thanks to all the staff for another great night.

“RUDE AND VERY UNFRIENDLY. POOR FOOD.”
Reviewed July 25, 2013

I went into the restaurant after reading so many good reviews . The owners body language and facial expressions were rude and very suspicious as if he were about to be questioned by the police ....what are they up to ????(i can only assume the reviews here are most definitely fake reviews and wriiten by the owner and family).

The food was poorly prepared and very very mediocre indeed. I could have done better myself. I chose the three course £6.40 lunch special (nothing special about it at all). At the end the ice cream (one tiny scoop was pretty much the best part).

Chinese people dont eat here because the food is garbage . And after being in China for 3 years i can honestly say this is THE VERY WORST CHINESE FOOD IVE EVER EATEN.

And by the way.... I speak Chinese and i heard every rude comment about the Laowei (foreigner) ME ! whilst i was eating my lunch.

I was of the belief that you should be polite to customers. Obvioulsy not here !

AVOID THIS GARBAGE FOOD. I hope someone can recommend a good one in future and the good reviews removed about this restaurant as they are not real...

Dont waste your money.

RATING ....TERRIBLE !!!!¬

“Cheap take away food at quality restaurant prices in a tatty canteen.”
Reviewed June 18, 2013

we were a well behaved group but the staff could not cope. food came at different times , some were not asked to order and had to find the staff , manager/owners idea of service was shouting "wa you want " to customers, the food was expensive , small portions, and poor quality , typical sugary supermarket or take away fare, the premises could do with a make over , in all i would rather have gone to Wok The Duck , or Hong Hong Cong Tea Bar ; were the food is great and prices reasonable .; and this was early evening

“Lovely Meal”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

My partner and I were in a bit of a hurry and ordered just 2 main courses, Sizzling King Prawns in Garlic and Sizzling Beef in Black Bean Sauce. The prawns were really juicy and had lots of garlic, just the way I like it. The beef was very tender and the sauce delicious. Staff attentive but not intrusive. The food arrived within 10 minutes admittedly it was not too busy but as I was in a hurry that was amazing. Will definitely be paying this restaurant another visit.
