“Excellent day out.”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

We booked online in advance and everything worked well on our visit apart from Portsmouth's lack of pedestrian signage in this part of town. If you live locally it's excellent value for money as you can use your ticket for revisits for up to a year, but as we only managed to see three attractions and may not be able to get back within the year they worked out a bit expensive.

“Thorougly enjoyable and educational day out”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

Thoroughly enjoyable and educational day out. Suggest timing your visit carefully if you want to visit both the new Mary Rose Museum (for which you need a timed ticket and in which, according to one of the guides there, visitors spend, on average, a couple of hours), do a harbour tour (which, when I visited, ran every hour, on the hour), plus squeeze in a number of other attractions.

Favourites were the Mary Rose Museum (chocker full of artefacts, but overcrowded) and HMS Victory. Also thoroughly enjoyed the Nelson Gallery and walk-through Trafalgar Experience at the National Museum of the Royal Navy, which really brought the man and the battle to life.

Save money by (i) buying a Spinnaker Tower and Historic Dockyard Joint Ticket (only available to purchase at Spinnaker Tower, see Spinnaker Tower website), or (ii) buying a combined rail and Historic Dockyard ticket (see South West Trains website).

Only gripe was the lack of left luggage facilities.

“Mary Rose experience”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

Went specifically to see the new Museum. Time tickets are the order of the day and the system doesn't really work that well. Very crowded, but to be expected given that it has only recently opened its doors. A first class exhibition none the less and highly recommended

“Excellent day out”
Reviewed June 26, 2013

Best to purchase your tickets online in advance as the queue is long! So mush to see and do here - we enjoyed Victory and Warrior ships so much. Also very good boat trip around the harbour with excellent guide who knows the history of all HMS ships. extra bonus is the tickets last all year!
