We stayed here overnight before an 8:15 ferry to Caen. You could see the ferry port from our bedroom window, so didn't need to get up early to find it! The rooms were clean and well appointed. We had a family room which had two single beds as well as the double, and there was still enough room for a travel cot. We ate downstairs in the adjoined pub, which was cheap and cheerful. All in all good for what we needed it for, which was a good nights sleep.

We stayed here two years ago and were really disappointed with the place, which was a bit tired then. Compared to other Travelodges this one wasn't great, but for the convenience of the ferry port it is in an excellent location.

However, we stayed here again just the other week and we were really impressed with the transformation. The hotel has had a complete refurbishment and has brought the hotel up to the same standard as other ones we have stayed in up and down the country.

The rooms were spotless, well equipped and comfortable. The check in staff (Sue and Emma) were lovely with nothing being too much trouble and always smilling and bubbly.

Would recommend this place now with no hesitation.

Room Tip: As for a room at the back of the hotel overlooking the car park. The hotel is situated on a busy ma...

Stayed on night in this Travelodge and found it a bit superior to other travelodges. Very clean and good parking. Staff very helpful as to local attractions. Lift very helpful to us old travelers especially when your room on top floor. Only downside is rates for wifi but think this is an outside company

We are currently staying in this hotel- we booked for 5 nights. As you can imagine this isn't the Hilton Hotel but for the money that we paid for this stay we cannot complian. Between both of us it was £140 for the 5 nights. Which yes, it is incredible for the money.

Although theres nothing really that has stood out to make it above average. The room was okay- although we thought that there should be more facilities, for example: a mini fridge, dvd player and maybe a bigger bin. (sick of all the pizza boxes lying around- haha) but ovbiously these aren't essential. We have to say we was impressed when we first walked in, as we heard some very poor reviews from this place, but we can't complain- staff are very pleasent.

There is some work getting done here at the moment, they are painting and re-decorating, so there is some maintence people about as we well know- as one guy walked in our room with a paint brush at 9am while me and my partner were still in bed- but he was very apologetic about the matter.

If you are coming from Portsmouth for a weekend away- and have no idea about the place. I wouldn't recommend staying at the hotel just because of how far out it is, takes 30 minutes to work into the centre and around an hour to walk to the torist attractions Southsea. Where the tower is and all the designer shops, beach and funfair and wide range of reastraunts. So it's abit far out- but no disrespect to the hotel.

But for the money couldn't ask for a better budget hotel.

Room clean but bathroom really basic, shortage of towels and just a single soap bar...also the loo was blocked....screaming argument took place in corridor outside at 4am for nearly an hour...a real joy!? Fifty percent credit given to my travelogue account though without quibble.

Room Tip: Check the loo works first!

I stayed here for one night in May 2013. The room I stayed in had recently been refurbished and as you would expect was in great condition. Nice quiet hotel on my stay so fitted my needs perfectly. Yes I would stay again and would recommend based on this visit. Only slight negative the surrounding area is a bit grotty and there is no bar in the hotel.

Thanks for your review David H, we’ve recently freshened up the whole hotel with a full makeover and put a brand new ‘Travelodge Dreamer’ pocket sprung kingsize bed in every room. Lots more of our hotels will be getting our new look this year, so it’s really good to hear that you enjoyed your stay.
