Took a school trip here in August, l used to take my children here when they were small and it still has all the charm it had then. Plenty of animals to feed and see, the gardens are lovely and conservatory is wonderful but a bit hot in august. Make sure you take a visit across the road to Leigh park gardens one of my favourite places in this area, lovely walks, play area and lake. Walked my daughters dog here on a summer evening and it was so peaceful and magical. It is a really beautiful place and on the door step of leigh park which quite often gets such bad press.

Went here off the cuff for something to do. Was actually a really nice day out, seeing all the various animals, the old library building and the walled gardens and the greenhouse.

Well worth a visit.

The genteel Victorian conservatory restaurant is a great favorite with the 'Ladies Who Lunch', serving a nice selection of pretty, well-presented healthy salads, followed by superb high-calorie cakes with cream! Not so good for the men folk who might want something more substantial than a salad or quiche.

The conservatory can become unbearably hot in the summer, but there is plenty of outside seating in the beautiful gardens.

It's a pity this venue is so expensive; we would visit more often otherwise. The children love feeding the animals. You need to arrive early if you want to buy a bag of food ( pellets) before they sell out; a great way of getting the animals fed at the expense of the visitors! But don't worry if they've run out: there at always plenty of spilt pellets on the ground to pick up! My 4 year old grand daughter loved the huge pigs and the adventure playground. Not to mention the ice cream at the end, which she was allowed once she'd washed her hands thoroughly! Another favourite of both of us was the tropical plant house and fish pool. Altogether plenty to see.

Took my 16month old and she loved feeding and stroking the animals, also with my work family-9 & 7 years old, lots for them to do, feed the animals, pet corner, park, indoor play barn, maze to even get lost in! Haha,
