We went to Portsdown Hill on Sunday, had a picnic and a walk along the pathway. There was a lot of traffic and it was difficult to park but it was well worth it. There is a magnificient panorama over Portsmouth. It was a clear afternoon and it was nice to sit and enjoy the views of the busy city below.

Spent the afternoon here. Visited the Armouries, the Nelson column, as well as the hillside - to learn about the geology and experience the views across the city. Such a fascinating area and can't wait to return and do it all again - there just aren't enough hours in a day.

A great place to just sit in the car and enjoy the view, or walk the dog, or just snooze in the car. You can also find a couple of public parking places with food vans selling burgers, chips, hot and cold drinks etc. Often you'll also find an ice-cream van too.
The view is stunning, even on a grey day one can see the Isle of Wight across the Solent, Hayling Island, Portchester, Gosport and beyond - dawn and dusk are lovely times to be up there to enjoy sunrises and often spectacular sunsets. So wrap up on a cold winter day and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee facing the fantastic view or drive up there on a warm sunny evening to enjoy the breathtaking blazing sunset over the Solent. And if you enjoy feeding birds then you'll find plenty of rooks, craws and seagulls up there, all competing to snatch that chip you've just thrown toward them........

Stop by..have a "Micks Monster burger"* or an ice cream..fly a kite... or site & enjoy.
judging by the number of people we see up there ...its perfect...
and ITS FREE!

* Never had a Micks...however the number of people who queue up for one says it all!

A beautiful spot near the coast. On top of a huge hill with gorgeous panoramic views overlooking the whole city of Portsmouth, the Isle of Wight and surrounding areas. There is a big car park with a burger van that sells the nicest, biggest burgers I have ever seen. A great place to let dogs run or just sit and enjoy the view.
