Very poor marine tanks, frag tank covered in algae, not good for corals. display tank with dead and dying coral, and a clown fish tank with dead anemone's, does anyone here care for the marine tanks at all, I dont think so. Would love to see the water peramitors! And the back of house operation to see how I gets like this, it's not hard to get right with some knowledge, care and attention,
Got a discount as the tunnel was closed, would have paid more if the reef tanks were good as that's what we went to see.

Also h quality of gifts are poor, very disappointed. Especially after a 200mile round trip and a hotel stay.

This is a good sized aquarium, with a wide range of fish, some (very smelly) Otters, a few large lizards (not quite sure why they are there - but still interesting enough) and frogs.

There is a relatively short tunnel so you can walk through the fish, this is followed by a 'bubble' which kids enjoy sitting in, and makes for a good photo opportunity.

If visiting with small children, it's best to visit on a warm day, then you can come prepared with towels and swim wear and let them run riot in the splash play area in their garden.

The annual pass is quite good value, but the one off entry is pretty expensive for what you get. Both my kids (2 and 9) seemed most interested in the splash play area and the gift shop, shame really as there are some interesting fish there.

some of the tanks were drained so didn't get the full tour to see all what they had .A discount was given to make up for the drained tanks though. Nice detailed activity set up especially if you're going with kids. was a great experince

We went to the Blue Reef Aquarium on a very cold Wednesday afternoon last March. We thought that it would be a great activity for my boyfriend's two young children- 3 & 5 years old.

Truthfully, the kids were only mildly interested in the aquarium. We spent about an hour there and rush through many of the exhibits. They really wanted to get to swimming at the Pyramid center.

I thought that the aquarium was small, but nice. I liked the sting ray and shark exhibits. They did a good job at making it both entertaining and educational.

The highlight was the otter feeding. A keeper came out and gave a little talk and warned us that the otters were to going to eat rats. It was partly stomach turning and part super cute as the otters raced to finish their rats and pawed frantically at the keeper for another rat, as they had a pink tail hanging out of their mouths. She wouldn't give them seconds until the tail was eaten, so they used their paws to jam it down. It was funny to watch.

The staff at the aquarium couldn't have been nicer.

Prior to going into the aquarium, we had a quick lunch at the adjacent cafe. It was horrible, the worst meal that i had in England. Not only was the food quality terrible, but it was grossly overpriced. I expect tourist traps to be more expensive, but for the quality of what we were given, this was robbery. We each had the cheeseburger meal which came with fries and soda. The food was cold, bland and rubbery. Icky.

The only plus about the cafe, was it had a decent kids play area and kids loved it.

Please visit my blog for more extensive trip reports and pictures from our England vacation!
