“Value for money”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2011

Good value for the money but there were a number of things that could be improved on.such as a bit of mould around the bath, a pervading smell of damp in the bathroom and the hallway and the bathroom fittings appeared a little worn.
Having said that, the room was clean, staff very friendly and helpful, towels and linen were clean and crisp and good car parking.
Situated just outside Portsmouth centre it is an ideal base for exploring both the city and the surrounding areas. I am told that the closer you stay to the centre the more expensive the hotel so this is a good compromise.
Next to the hotel is the 'Hungry Horse' resteraunt. Whilst offering good value for money fare, families are encouraged so I suggest that you have to like chldren to be comfortable here. Absolutely nothing wrong with that but as a mature couple we prefer quieter locations. There is a Harvester within 5 minutes walk and an excellent variety of eating places in Portsmouth centre - Gunwharf Quays is a good area.
Would we go back there? Yes, if we were looking for a base for local travel it is ideal.

Room Tip: All seem to be the same

We recently stayed one night at the Farmhouse Innlodge and were very pleasantly surprised with this hotel and bar. All staff were very helpful, our room was great and we'd a lovely meal and drinks in the bar that evening. As we'd an early start the next morning before the restaurant opened, we were able to order a breakfast to the room which arrived promptly at 5.30 am as ordered, and was fantastic. Highly recommended!

We chose this hotel for our wedding reception. We could not say one bad thing about the staff, the food or the prices of rooms and drinks at the bar! The honeymoon suite was large with a jacuzzi and very comfortable. All our guests commented on he effort staff had put into our evening and how fantastic the experience here was. Would definately recommend this hotel to anyone for parties as well as an overnight stay.

Whilst the rooms at the Inn Lodge were clean and well presented, the place is advertised as having a play barn for young ones, this idea is ridiculas as my 3 yr old would of walked away with broken bones if she had attempted to use the facility. They do not explain when booking that the play barn is actually attached to the pub next door and packed to breaking point most of the day. On the first night staying at the hotel we decided to eat in the attched resturant, after ordering we were made to wait over 45mins at which point we complained and told our wait would be another 20mins. The supervisor on shift that night was obnoxious and argumentative and refused to take responsibility for our ruined evening. Breakfasts were unorganised and dry by the time they reached us. The front desk staff were helpfull. The only fault with the rooms was that room 105 had mould on the back of the curtains and the room had a strong smell of damp, making my sisters asthma flair up. Our stay at this lodge was mediocre at best

They split us up between 2 two rooms, which is what most hotels would do. It just seemed unnecessary as the youngest is 2 years old and happier sleeping with us in a strange place. The hotel was fine. I was more bothered by the restaurant attached. Avoid the restaurant, but the hotel will suffice just fine.
