“don't bring car.”
Reviewed July 20, 2013

Room tidy but very hot had to have fan on all night. Cleaners didn't clean room till afternoon so we had dirty cups no tea or coffee and toilet rolls. Breakfast was lovely and staff in restaurant were helpful and very friendly. Receptionist not friendly when checking in saying we hadn't booked. Car park is awful and no help advising alternative parking.

Room Tip: Room on second floor at front very quiet.

Thank you for your review, The room attendants commence cleaning at 9am and finish around 2pm so I am sorry if your room was at the end of the schedule, the reception staff would normally advise the guest as to parking availability so I am disappointed if this wasn't the case. I will pass this on to all departments, best wishes Chris Gilmore GM

A truly wonderful hotel
Very pleasant staff, very nice 'sea-view' room, and good food to boot.
Bar food and service excellent Just the one tiny thing to note is the car park - not very large, but this did not ruin our stay

I usually use Premier Inn when away on business but as this was a last minute booking it was all I could find.
First experience of this Hotel was getting stuck in the car park. The car park was jammed full and with nowhere to turn I had to reverse back out very slowly. A further 40 minutes was then spent driving around attempting to find a parking space. I eventually found one about half a mile away and had to lug my bags and luggage along to the hotel.
On arrival I was thrown straight back to the 80's. If you want a modern hotel don't come here. The receptionist didn't have a lot to say for herself. I got my key and headed to the room.
On opening my room door I was nearly barbecued by the heat. The outside temp was about 32 degs and the room was about 40 degs.
The room had been facing the sun all day and no one had bothered to close the curtains or even open the windows. It didn't help that it was on the top floor. The room was tiny and looked like it had been the old staff quarters. Just as well I left the cat at home as I wouldn't have been able to swing it in this room.
As this heat was not acceptable I went down and asked for a fan from reception to be told that they had none. The helpful receptionist informed me that heat rises!!
Needless to say I had zero sleep all night.
The only good thing I can say about this hotel is that the bar food was quite good though took a while to come.
The hotel is old and needs refurbishment. The rooms I had looked nothing like the Expedia pictures. Cleanliness was okay but cold have been better.
Overall I was greatly disappointed and will not be using this hotel again. I now know why I use Premier Inn!

Room Tip: A rear facing room that is not on the top floor would be good unless you wish to suffer dehydration.

Thank you for your comments, We are an older style Hotel and all rooms have been refurbished recently, as the hotel does not have air conditioning in the bedrooms the recent hot weather has been a challenge for us but fans are in every room to assist with this problem. If a customer is not happy with a room type we are always more than happy to change rooms or room type if the customer requests this, best wishes Chris Gilmore GM

Having stayed several times during the past few years the overall value offered is very good. It's worth paying extra for a sea view as these rooms have great views. Breakfasts are of high standard. However car parking can be an issue ( it seems that more recently the hotel has many functions at night aimed at non-residents - this means the car park is full and residents can find it difficult to find a space ). This policy can be a real issue at busy times and is a pity.

Room Tip: Go for sea view - floor 3 best.

Thank you for your review of the Hotel and the many kind comments, We are looking at a policy of residents only parking and hopefully this will assist in these situations in the future, regards Chris Gilmore GM

The room was spacious but very hot and stuffy and it was tricky to open the windows. The shower was not very powerful but was roomy and clean. The main disappointment was not being able to park when we returned after a meal out. This resulted in a drive around trying to find a space in nearby roads. It also resulted in us dragging our suitcases back to the car in the morning. The receptionist apologised but wasn't overly concerned. I didn't think the staff were very friendly. Although a buffet the breakfast was freshly cooked.

Thank you for your comments, I am sorry you experienced difficulty parking and you room was hot, the very warm weather has created a few new challenges for what is an older hotel but I am pleased you found everything else to your satisfaction, best wishes Chris Gilmore GM

With money tight it is not easy to get the best value and not sacrifice the standards you expect, this hotel did just that. The half board deal was great value, the room and view stunning, the food good with plenty of choice and the staff brilliant. What more could you want?

Room Tip: Ask for wet room.

Stayed here with a work colleague in early July just for one night as sailing from Portsmouth next day.Car park is small and difficulty particularly if you arrive late and have to get into last space underneath. Initial impression is old style seaside hotel a little tired. However staff were very good, and the evening meal and wine could not be faulted. Good food speedy service.
The room i had was great, view not the best but bathroom big and clean. However my colleague had a shower where it was on a sloping roof and she found it difficult to get under even being quite short herself. Did not have breakfast so cant comment.
Overall well done to the hotel .

Room Tip: Avoid the room with the sloping roof and shower.
