Been coming to Portsmouth for 20 years thanks to the current Mrs G's parents living here. In that time we're been to every restaurant and sampled most of the Indian takeaways as well. The indian takeaways tend towards the 'for English palette/from one pot base' formula, thankfully the Bombay Bay ain't like that!
First, the food is well prepared.
It is imaginatively presented(even as a take away) and quite simply delicious. One of the girls who works for me brings her Mum's Biriyani in every Froday and it is the best in the World....however,The Chef at the Bombay Bay will give Mrs Sharma a very good run for her money.
The staff are pleasant, attentive, always smile and have an intimate understanding of that old fashioned concept,- customer service. The location is out of this world, if the weather is good one can sit on the Terrace over looking the Marina which is what I just did with a large Cobra whilst waiting for our takeaway. If your taking someone special out this place will take an awful lot of beating, again in my opinion you won't find better on (or near) Portsea island.
IMO a great place to judge a restaurant are their loos, the Bombay bays are always spotless.
How often can you say that when
You go out?
All your favourites are here along with mussels, squid, swordfish and a few other not often seem on an Indian menu.
I live in London and have done the usual Benares, Chutney Mary thing and these guys are as good but at fraction of the price.
Do yourselves a favour people try these guys out you won't be disappointed.
Did I mention they're not expensive?
