“Comfortable and great value!!”
Reviewed April 20, 2013

Stayed for three nights having a break with my mum. It proved to be an excellent choice. The rooms were very comfortable with all amenities excellent. It was a short walk from the seafront and really handy for exploring the place. Danny's fruit platter at breakfast was LEGENDARY. Definitely ask for that when you visit.

Easy to find on a dark evening, no problem parking, helpful owner who was eager to help us find our way about, room was clean & comfortable! I slept really well in this double bed, my husband found it a little small as he is 6 ft, it was also extremely quite - which was brilliant. The en suite was huge with 2 sinks, a shower & a very amusing bath - this was the highlight of our room as it was so funny! it was a little bigger than a sink - quite literally & it had a seat in it!! it really was the funniest thing we have seen! lovely shampoo etc that was free.
It was around 5 minute walk to the Pryamid Centre, around 40 minute walk along the seafront into Portsmouth Gunwharf Centre, passing Southsea Castle en route.
Breakfast was alright, Sunday was better than Saturday, staff very helpful - almost too much so (I think she just wanted to stay busy), very pleasant owners & would recommend if visiting bands or such. We would stay there again with no hesitation. Extremely good value at £132 for the 2 of us for 2 nights inc breakfast - contact the owners direct.

Room Tip: No 12 was a very comfortable bed, no view as such - but didn't go to look out of the window! Bat...

Chose this B&B after looking at tripadvisors recommendations for the area we wanted to visit. The hotel was easy to find with plenty of parking very close and in a quiet area. The room was a reasonable size very neat and tidy and pleasant. Bathroom was clean and the shower excellent. The breakfast and the service was excellent. The manager was very helpful and advised us on numerouus museums and places to visit. This location is not near any shops or restaurants but is near to the amusement pier.

We booked a room for one night Monday 20th August but when we saw the cleanliness of this hotel we ended up staying for 4 nights. Although the hotel is a little out of the centre it presents no problem as the local bus is only a few yards away. The breakfast is cooked fresh for you while you are eating your cereal, unlike a lot of the chain hotels where the help yourself buffet leaves a lot to be desired! A lovely personal touch from the owner. The owner was so helpful to us in finding our way around even to the point of booking our ferry to the Isle Of Wight personally online to save us money. We would not hesiate to book this hotel again or to recommend it to others. What a little gem.

I booked this B&B with some trepidation because there were very mixed reviews on Trip Advisor (quite a few negative) - but I was booking last minute so there wasn't a wide choice. I have no idea why there have been bad reviews, but as soon as my husband and I saw our room we booked a second night without hesitation.
There is plenty of free street parking right outside and it was always easy to get a parking spot; there are also spots in the front driveway but we didn't need to use them.
We were politely welcomed by the owner who was happy to talk to us about where to visit and local places to eat. He also addressed our immediate concern, which was to find a laundromat as we really needed to do some washing. There is a decent laundromat less than 5 mins drive away.
Our attic room was very spacious - up about 38 stairs but that's to be expected for an attic room - also the owner is happy to help with carrying luggage.
The bed was very comfortable. The ensuite bathroom was spacious enough and there was a walk-in closet for our clothing and luggage.
The breakfast was excellent - I agree with another reviewer that the fruit platter was really good.
It is a bit of a way out of the town centre but there is a bus stop 3 doors away which goes to the shopping area and The Hard (docking area for the ships and museums).
The free WiFi had the best reception of anywhere we have stayed so far this trip, even though we were up in the attic level.
All in all we were very satisfied with this B&B and based on our experience I have no hesitation in recommending it to others, despite the mixed reviews.

Room Tip: If stairs are a problem, definitely request a room on a lower level.
