“Premier Inn at its best”
Reviewed August 8, 2011

A lovely location in amongst the bushland, staff very friendly and rooms large and clean.
Nothing to fault with this hotel l would use it again. The only area that could be improved was Breakfast, staff seemed soooo bored with there job. But reception and hotel staff were very nice and friendly. We would stay again

First time at this Premier Inn - we usually stay at Port Solent. Reasonably quiet location, away from the main motorway (A3M) but close to a trunk road through the village of Horndean. However, with the wiondow closed, there wasn't any intrusive noise. The receptionist was utterly charming and went out of her way to make us feel welcome. It' a shame (and an embarrassment) that I can't now remember her name!

Room Tip: Ground floor could be noisier than others, in my opinion, due to its proximity to the street.

I stayed at this Inn for 2 nights with my 2 granddaugthers, aged 7 and 4. We were made so welcome and all the staff, both at the Inn and at the Red Lion, were wonderful. Very friendly and helpful. The room met all our needs and the food at the Red Lion was perfect for us. I can't recommend it more highly for what we needed - a visit to the HMS Victory, the Ark Royal. the Portsmouth Museum and slot machines at Southsera! Very happy customer! Even a change of towels for our second day!

Very new Premier Inn, so everything works as it should, although the rooms are as usual a bit on the tight side for a family of 4. Adjacent restaurant a bit more classy than by some PIs, with prices to match. Breakfast buffet is good, especially as the kids eat free.

The hotel is easy to find with plenty of car parking. The rooms were large enough however none of the wardrobes or cupboards had any doors on them!! The beds were comfy but breakfast was well over priced at £7.50 each. If you want to actually stay close to Portsmouth I wouldn't suggested this hotel as it was quite a way out. Overall though it was a decent enough place to stay.

My sister, mother, grandmother and me occupied two rooms in Premiere Inn's Horndean location for a few days while visiting some nearby relatives down the street. My first impression was that the hotel is like a slightly more upscale version of the dorm-like Ibis hotel (i.e. not much in the way of amenities, the walls are a bit thicker than a typical Ibis).

There are 25 rooms in the hotel on three floors. No elevator for passengers, but they can send up heavy luggage via a luggage lift. No phones in the rooms. There is WiFi access to the Internet, available at £10 for one day or £20 for one week.

Big dispensers of "shower gel/shampoo" in the shower and "soap" next to the sink. No toilet paper rolls (just sheets of t.p. in yet another dispenser), which I hadn't seen in English hotels up to this point.

Breakfast is served at the Red Lion restaurant a few steps away from the hotel, reachable via an easy walk down the driveway or through a rock garden. Parking was very easy and the whole area is surrounded by lots of trees, so the location felt pretty comfortable and not too urban.

There's a Morrisons grocery store (and in-store cafe) less than a mile away, on the way to the A3. The rate I paid was £67 for the weeknights, and instead of the advertised price of £55 for Friday (weekend) night, they bumped the rate up to £75 due to some event 15 miles away or so (the front desk reported they still ended up having rooms empty that night, so I guess it wasn't much of an event as it was an opportunity to hike the rates for a couple days).
