initial impressions were not good - walking to the door it was clear that the outside seating area had been well used during the earlier part of the day - the furniture was askew, the full ashtrays spilled onto the pools of beer still covering the tables and the ground was strews with an array of debris.
Inside, it was busy but not full by any means. Three people were working behind the bar none of whom seemed able to keep track of "who's next?" and so we were overlooked for about 10 minutes while others who'd come to the bar after us were served. We were struck by the number of loud drunks at the bar all of whom were jostling for position oblivious to the presence of other people.
Given the weather and the fact that there were lots of free tables I asked if we could be seated a little early (we were 20 minutes early) and was told that this wouldn't be possible and asked to come back at 9.
With no chairs free inside we put our coats back on and went out into the dirty outside area. It wasn't pleasant and again populated by those who'd clearly taken advantage of the cheap drinks being served throughout the day.
At 9 we went back inside and were led past the numerous still empty tables and seated at one nearest to the toilets. The table next to us was dirty.
We were ignored for about 20 minutes and then approached for our drinks order. Drinks took about 10 minutes to arrive and were
provided by a different member of staff to that who'd taken the order.
Throughout our evening service was sloppy and erratic. We must have had 3 or 4 different waiters and each course came missing something ordered.
At one point a member of staff came to clean the table next to us but gave up half way through and we were left with a still dirty table but with the addition of a dirty cloth and a bottle of detergent.
We'll never go back again.
