This hotel was absolutely wonderful! The staff did everything to make us feel welcome. The room we stayed in was beautiful and very well looked after! The breakfast was also lovely and there was a great choice. I would definitely recommend this hotel as it's well worth the money! Will definitely be coming back in the future!

We stayed at the Clarence on 1st march for my cousins birthday. Happy 46th birthday Catherine. We have been to this hotel many times and going back in April and June. Visiting this hotel is like visiting friends. Jenny and mark the owners make you so welcome and can't do enough for you. All the rooms are lovely. We stayed in the Monkey room this time. Very nice. Great shower. Heated bathroom floor! Comfy bed. Etc. The breakfast is superb. Delicious. Thanks Jenny. When you arrive you are given a parking permit and a complimentary drink. We then went into Gunwharf Quays. Only about £3.50 in a taxi. Shopping is amazing and cheaper than the prices of our local town. The restaurants and bars are good. I recommend. Jamie Oliver's, Las Iguanas, Tiger Tiger, and Strada, the others are nice too bit these are our favourites. If you stay in Southsea. We liked Yonkers.
I highly recommend this hotel. You won't regret it. And you will return.

Room Tip: Thank you Jenny and Mark for always being friendly. X

Really enjoyable stay overall, there is nothing you could find fault with. We stayed in the "Monkey Room" which has a lovely rainfall type shower in a large, spacious bathroom. There were loads of soft bath towels and good toiletries and a fab soft dressing gown and slippers. The room was spotless, the bed comfy and free movie channel a nice extra. The breakfast made our stay, it was delicious, fresh, served quickly and great choice - of everything! All of the staff were very attentive and very likeable, going out of their way to answer any queries and suggest places to see/go in the area. Would we stay again? Most definitely. Loved it

Room Tip: Can only base my comments on the Monkey Room but if it is the standard that is available, I would re...

We stayed here for a couple of nights after deciding on a last minute break. We arrived a little bit before check in but it wasn't a problem. We were able to leave the car and take in our bags so we could go and have a tour of the local area. When we arrived back at the hotel our room was ready and we were checked in. We were given a welcome drink at the bar and shown up to our room where our bags had already been taken. Room 4 was lovely, it had a very comfy bed and the most amazing shower. There was nothing missing, although it didn't have tea and coffee in the room, this was readily available in the lounge and was complimentary. There was a small bar in the lounge but it was well stocked and the breakfast was lovely in the breakfast room just off the lounge. The toast at breakfast was freshly baked and there were some amazing flavours. The staff were a credit to the hotel and couldn't be more helpful. Although we were only there two nights it was a great trip and a fabulous hotel. When we go back to the area we will be staying here.

Room Tip: The shower in room 4 was fantastic.

We arrived just after 3pm in a small side street wondering if we had come to the right place having passed so many large hotels. There seemed nowhere to park but this was quickly resolved by the staff who open an electronic gate within the hotels grounds.
The staff greeted us with a complimentary drink from the bar whilst we filled in the registration form and were also given the code for the free wi fi, a short time later we were shown up to our room. The hotel is tastefully decorated and our room, the gold and bronze room was spacious with an upper floor bathroom. It was probably one of the best rooms I have stayed in, was spotlessly clean and the bed exceptionally comfortable. As we had eaten a large lunch earlier at Gunwharf Quays and didn't fancy going out again in the terrible weather, we ordered a panini from the hotel menu and this was brought up to us a little while later. The food was fresh well presented and more importantly very tasty. The hotel staff were keen to recommend other restaurants, nothing seemed too much trouble and they were always friendly and had time to stop and chat.
Breakfast the following morning was more akin to a fine dining experience with fresh fruit and a freshly cooked breakfast to order that not only looked good but was also delicious.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will not hesitate to book in here again when we return to Portsmouth.

Room Tip: Look on the hotel website to choose and book your individual room.

We spent just one night away at The Clarence and found it to be a luxurious experience. We stayed in the hotel's Luella Cherry room which was very spacious, beautifully decorated and had a fabulous whirlpool bath.
The staff gave us a very warm welcome offering excellent information about where to eat and how best to get there. However it gets busy quickly so it is best to book in advance.
There is plenty of on street parking and they will provide you with a permit for the full duration of your stay.
Breakfast was served in a lovely dining area and was served quickly with a great selection of hot and cold foods.
We couldn't fault the hotel and would love to return one day.
Thank you!
