“Lovely!!”
Reviewed August 17, 2011

We stayed in the Follow Your Heart room which was gorgeous. The room had a lovely Victoria and Albert bath with an Aquascreen at the end so we enjoyed watching a movie from the extensive range available with a glass or two of bubbly. The staff were very friendly and attentive and we would most definitely return again. The only minor down point is that there aren't tea and coffee facilities in the room, you need to go downstairs for this.

We stayed for 1 night. Quiet location. Parking was not a problem.

Pleasant welcome. We paid £169 but had a double hot tub in the room which takes a lot of water, The breaakfast was fine. The room was well appointed.

Overall very good but a bit pricey?

Stayed at this charming boutique hotel for one night (August 12th 2011), and it was everything I had hoped it would be. Unobtrusive membersof staff who were helpful, pleasant and eager to offer advice and organise taxis. Enjoyed our complimentary drink upon arrival and were shown our room which was on the top floor. Quiet and comfortable, the only downside was that the bathroom ceiling was extremely low which meant that it was difficult to use the mirror without bending - this aside the little touches like the turndown service and the handmade chocolat made my husband and I feel like valued guests. Breakfast was delightful, with a good choice of freshly prepared dishes - just sorry we couldn't have stayed longer. Would definitely make a reservation again should we return to Portsmouth.

We booked this hotel for just one night. We arrived mid-evening and had pre-booked a restaurant table elsewhere so had minimal time to spend in the hotel / our room before we went out again - What a shame ! From the moment we arrived (once we had found it as it is tucked away down a back street) we had a brilliant experience. Full credit to Paula for the work she puts in making her guests feel welcome. the room was exactly as described and was excellently furnished in a contemporary black and white theme. The bed was soooooo comfy and the toileteries / decor etc. were of a high standard. Loved the on-arrival drink and the handmade chocolates on the pillow. Also loved the fact that the bar prices for our nightcap drinks were very reasonable and didn't make us feel like we were being ripped-off. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice and was well cooked and presented. Couldn't really find any faults and would definitely stay again if we were around the Portsmouth / Southsea area.

On arrival of our honeymoon we not too impressed with our back street location. We were promptly met at the door by our most attentitive host Paula whom guided us into our parking space. A free welcome drink at the bar was most appreciated as was the fact our bags had been whisked up to our room. We booked the beautiful Luella Cherry room which was simply stunning & the double jacuzzi bath was like an enormous plunge pool (at 6ft5in my husband was extremely happy). Fab tv screen over the jacuzzi with a great selection of free movies to enjoy, although I would have liked a dimmer switch in bathroom. We brought our own champagne & had no need to feel guilty as we were kindly given ice & a champagne bucket to chill & enjoy in the room. Turndown service with chocolates & a poem left on pillow was a nice touch too. Breakfast was elegant, tasty & served with a smile. Overall our stay was sublime & we're looking forward to a return visit.

My partner and I stayed at The Clarence hotel monday night just gone.
It is a beautiful boutique hotel which is situated right by the sea front and close to all major attractions such as the sea life centre and Gunwharf etc

The staff were very friendly and we even received a free welcome drink of our choice on arrival.

The rooms were Fabulous, we decided on the romance room with a roll top bath in the room and that was also Fabulous, we went out for a meal and returned and noticed that someone had come in and done a turn down service and had left little yummy choclates on our pillows with a little quote from some one famous, I have kept mine it was a little woody allen saying.

Breakfast was scrumtious in the morning with a small buffet and a menu with a choice of salmon, waffles and a full english amongst other things.

Considering the price of other boutique hotels we looked at this was probably the best value boutique hotel I have seen and the price included the breakfast.

I most certainly recommend this fabulous hotel to any one who is looking for a short break with style, luxury and at a good price with the friendly staff to go with it.

Room Tip: Book early to get a wider choice of room as all thier rooms have different themes
