great meal, the best fish and chips i've had in a long while. harsh critics will be hard pushed to fault this.i would say though, that a great fish and chips deserves homemade tartare sauce.the ladies who served us were very attentive.

Thank J C

We went to "Mother Kelly's" on a Saturday lunchtime having been recommended it by a friend. Both the restaurant and the car park were almost full - a good sign! Lots more people came in while we were there - another good sign!
The three of us had two cod and chips and a pie and chips with three teas. The fish was lovely, flaky cod with a nice thin batter. The chips - unlike what a few reviewers have said - were well-cooked.
The staff were efficient, friendly and helpful.
The three meals cost just under £20 - not cheap, but worth it for really good fish and chips!

Forget your American diner in port solent, take a short stroll along the shore wall to Mother Kelly's at Portchester. Good fish and chips, freshly served and with little waiting. The steamed puddings are also a real treat. Possibly not a good fish as Steeles at Cleethorpes or the Sea Shell at Lisson Grove in London, but good nonetheless.
