“Quaint, rustic accommodations with modern ammenities”
Reviewed April 18, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

The flat was in a great quiet location, and was comfortable for the five of us, everything worked, except we ran out of hot water a couple of times, but just reset the water heater and we were back in business. we were only a 5-10 minute walk to Lower Slaughter, and an additional 5-10 minutes from Bourton-on-the-Water. Unfortunately there was only one option to eat out in Upper Slaughter, which was a bit pricey, so we definitely took advantage of self catering.
we all love our time here!

Thank you so much for your review - very much appreciated. We're delighted you enjoyed your stay in the cottage. We're so sorry you had issues with the water and will take a look at that to make sure the settings are correct. The Lord of the Manor hotel is a little pricey, we like the Golden Ball in Lower Swell - easy to walk to and pub food prices! All the very best, Katy

“Fantastic Cottage and Excellent Location”

We were an extended family staying here. We wanted somewhere central so that we could tour around, the downstairs bedroom and bathroom were ideal for my husband who has MS and has difficulties using stairs. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated, the beds are amazingly comfortable, the cottage is spotlessly clean, the local area is gorgeous and the welcome gifts are extremely thoughtful.

“Really terrific - comfortable and every need catered for”

We booked this cottage for a Christmas get-together of family members from far flung places and initially chose it for its location and its ground floor bedroom and bathroom for the older members of the party. Prior to arriving, the Christmas Day cook had some specific kitchen requirements and had need to contact the property owner, Katy, about them, who couldn't have been more helpful. The directions to the house were perfect, as were the access instructions. On arrival we were really touched to find a decorated and lit Christmas tree and a warm, personal welcoming note and bottle of Christmas cheer, as well as two folders full of extremely useful and detailed information about the property and the surrounding area. The house itself is beautiful - very comfortable, quiet, and in a stunning part of the country; there is nothing we could suggest to improve it. Many thanks Katy and Julian - we couldn't have wished for a better place for our family reunion.

“Undiscovered Cotswold Gem”

Surprised to see that I am the first to review this property although I understand from owner Katy that it has only recently been available to rent. This is a fabulous 16th Century Cotswold cottage, tastefully restored by the owners to provide all the conveniences of modern living whilst retaining old world charm. We arrived with our two young children for a stay in snowy January and took full advantage of the log burner in the inglenook fireplace. When I hear 'cottage', I tend to think small and poky. That is not the case here, with an open hallway, landing, large master bedroom and bathroom. One of the bedrooms and bathroom with shower is downstairs and would suit someone not wanting to navigate stairs. There is also a stairgate and high chair for families with very young children. The decor is fresh and the owners have wisely used period furniture around the property rather than the usual Swedish utility pieces. This gives a feeling if quality and luxury. We enjoyed an outstanding but eye-wateringly expensive lunch at the exclusive Lords of the Manor Hotel across the road - think we'll go for the pub next time. Three miles away is the lovely Stow-on-the-Wold with it's antique shops and art dealers as well as a supermarket and most importantly a Majestic Wine. There are a number of child friendly attarctions at nearby Bourton-on-the-Water which were unfortunately closed because of the snow. We plan on coming back later in the year and using this as a base for the Cheltenham Races. We also hope, with better weather, to be able to take advantage of some of the beautiful country walks. I'd recommend this property for families, couples, small groups and the elderly - a lovely place to stay.
